Spirit Airline Flying out of Niagara Falls!

Just want to let my fellow Canadian's know, starting January 28th, Spirit Airline will have select flights out of Niagara Falls to Olrlando!

I was on the Spirit website and I see they will fly from Niag to Ft. Lauderdale but I don't see that they will fly from Niag to Orlando. Where are you seeing this?

i agree i don't see orlando either. watched nbc affiliate channel 2 from buffalo and orlando was not metioned. but flights booked over the nxt couple of days are $9 first come first served. check there web site if interested. i think flights start in januareuy. by the way its a nice airport in niag. falls. and parking will only be $5 a day.

They don't list Orlando for the $9 sale but when you get to "book a flight" you have the option to go to Orlando. There are some $99 flights in March. They don't fly every day.
The funniest was playing around with other potential destinations....I found some flights to Myrtle Beach in May for $1 each way!! With tax it's less than $35 round trip!

Hi, I just checked Spirits web site and they do fly to Orlando from Niagara falls
We fly them out of Detroit and are very happy with the service and rates.
I lived in St.Catharines and the Niagara falls Airport is small, it's like flying from a private airport!

You can get to Orlando but it appears that it's only available through FLL with a stop over and the flight times I saw were terrible. It showed me a flight leaving at 1am as my only option.

True....only via Fort Lauderdale.....with 1am departure.(not that big of a deal)
Hey....for $49 each way after joining the $9 club....flying out of a little quiet (not so far away) airport....sounds great to me (rather than leaving from that monstrosity of an airport called Pearson ....at 3 times the price
Sure its direct....better flight times.....)
I'll take the Spirit option !

I don't know about losing an entire day of my vacation from exhaustion just for the cheap flight. I would look for better flight options from Buffalo, Rochester or Detroit if Toronto is too expensive. But I think you left at 1am in the morning and got to Orlando at 8-9am, not much sleep in that equation.

I guess we have different prioroties.
The way I look at it..(for us) Buffalo......2-1/2 hr drive.....Detroit - 4-1/2 hrs......Rochester (gawd knows ).......Niagara - 1-1/2 hrs
Losing a few hours sleep to travel with 4 for $671 incl tax....I think its a pretty good option (we-re not losing a day.....we travel the night before and sleep on the plane).

Isn't Niagara Falls/ Buffalo airport the same airport???

Wow I just checked their web site, so there IS a Niagara Falla airport, I never knew that before!! LOL

Buffalo airport and Niagara falls airport are 17 miles apart so like 20 - 25 minutes apart at most.

For those looking for flights Nov 8 - Dec 15th there is a promo from Spirit for $35 off a round trip flight. (35OFF) Book by Nov.1st. There might be some deals out of Detroit with this.

They are going to Plattsburgh/Montreal too! But not to MCO unless through FLL... tried to book for March, but nothing came up. Think I might call and ask about direct to MCO.

Hooray for you all that get the new MCO option!

**UPDATE**
Just looked at booking to FLL and then FLL to MCO... $830 for 3 round trips, great but we would have to leave at 1:35 AM (only flight time Out of Plattsburgh to FLL) and not get to MCO until 8 with a 2 hour layover and two little ones solo since DH is meeting us there after his meeting in TX.

Think I will pass this time, but hopeful that more flight times will be added!

I can see people might be interested in flying from around here to Ft. Lauderdale, to all the cruises, but Myrtle Beach? Will they have enough business?? I agree we should call them and see if they can have flights to Orlando.

The flights will depart from the Niagara Falls International Airport on the American side of the border. There isn't really an airport on the Canadian side.

I didn't think there was since we go to Niagara Falls Ont regularly. That is what confused me. Thanks.

Maybe I'm losing it ,,,,,,,but I could swear when I checked Sprit Air last week for flights in February , the taxes and fees were a lot less than the current $54 per person return ? (Air tran are almost half of that out of Buffalo).
I wonder if the higher fess are to pay for the new Niagara terminal ?.....and why would it change inso much in one week ?
