To me being lucky or unlucky would be for things you can't control.

Getting cancer, being born to good parents, winning the lottery, having a terrible accident, etc... These all seem to be the lucky or unlucky things in life.

Working hard or making bad choices in life to me are not part of being lucky and unlucky.

So, is it being lucky if you earned it? Is it being unlucky if it's because you make bad choices?

I believe we create our own luck.
I also believe in the Rule of Three: Whatever energy you send out, good or bad, will eventually make its way back to you, three times as good or as bad as how you originally sent it out.

That's why any witch worth her broomstick won't cast a curse or a hex on somebody. She knows it'll rebound on her sooner or later.

When I think of whether someone is lucky or unlucky, I think of things that someone has no control over. For example, I've had a lot of major medical problems which I've had no control over. I definately wouldn't say that I deserved to have a kidney disease, spinal meningitis, etc or that I did something to have these things happen to me. But I wouldn't say I'm unlucky. Unfortunate things have happened in my life and it's not because I've deserved it or because I'm unlucky. It's just a part of life and I've learned to deal with it.

I think that bad luck can include people that you care about stabbing you in the back. I would say that no matter what no one deserves to be treated badly by people they care about.

I also place layoffs under the category of bad luck. It's hard to call working for a company that lays you off a bad choice when it's so hard to predict just which companies will do layoffs.

I think this might be a difference on how we look at things. Personally I think you can be unlucky and still have a good life and I believe you can be lucky and had a bad life.

I think I have a pretty good life. A great Daughter, a good job, a house, cars, trips to WDW etc... But I don't think I'm lucky. I feel I have all these things through work and wise choices not luck. But in the end my life is good.

I can't think of much in my life that was lucky. The only possiblility is my Daughter turning out so well and her health, but I did help raise her so it's not all luck and that's like saying you're lucky because you weren't unlucky. However there have been alot of unlucky things that have occured that I've overcome. While things could have been worse they certainly weren't even close to being lucky.
