Spinoff: Do you have any stories about Disneyland being haunted?

I hate to thread jack and get off topic but I would prefer if smoking was not allowed in the parks or only in one spot. It is not too much too ask to walk 5 minutes so the smoking is concentrated in one area.

The worst is park hopping and getting inundated by a could of smoke from alll the smokers out there between the two parks.

I just don't want to smell it in the parks, it is gross but it totally takes me out of the moment, it crushes the atmosphere for me.

I guess atleast now it is in a designated area (usually) as opposed to the old days when you could buy cigarettes on Main Street (or any tobacco product) and smoke wherever you pleased, including the lines of the rides!

if this were still the case, we wouldn't even be able to go to Disneyland, because of our allergies. thank goodness there are designated areas now. although, it's not like everybody adheres to those areas, as wel all know.

Mugglemama, thats how a good ghost town should make you feel!

But Im with everyone who feels a little uneasy with the BTM Trail! But there's alot of past Dl history around that area and who knows what all might have happened there. If there was going to be a ride cemetary it should be in that area. But even with that said, I still am drawn to that area. Its creepy but I love it!

:wizard: I will definitely take pictures in that area next time we are there. I like your term "being ghosted" can I steal that? There was not a draft but it sure was cold. I had a very long coat on and a long sleeve shirt so when the shiver went through me I really felt it.

 Yes, I totally agree. It gets really dark over there and kind of quiet. Not much action going on. You cant see much and unless you hear a scream from the Matterhorn, its very ..... silent.

:rotfl2: And your Grandma sounds like she was a great person! What cool memories to have.
I know, me too . Here is an :offtopic: off topic but I saw a guy walking down Main Street smoking a cigarette. I really wanted to ask him to put it out , but I also didnt want to be rude. What is the group opinion here?

I don't think it would be rude, you could phrase it something like, "Hey, just so you don't get in trouble with Security, you may want to wait to smoke til you're in the smokers' area." Maybe it was his first time in the Park, and he honestly didn't know smoking isn't allowed outside the designated areas. Case in point: I smoke, but I know not to smoke outside of the "Smoker's Corral". However, last time I visited the Park, I took a friend (also a smoker) who'd never been to DL. When he lit up on Main Street, I told him what was up, to wait til we were in the right place.

...an old cowboy ghost in Frontier Land? That is SO cool!

I agree with all the previous posters......the Big Thunder Trial is super dark. I remember wondering why they keep it so dark? It seems like it should be more well lit, if only for liability reasons. But thankfully I have never felt at all creeped out walking through it. We only have gone when the park is decorated for Christmas, and the trees in Big Thunder Ranch have really pretty Christmas lights on them. They are not very bright, but it makes the place cheerier....

OMG, we love those trees when they are lit up! We make it a point to walk that way just because of the lights on those trees.

I think what everyone is talking about regarding the creepyness of the BYMRR trail to Fantasyland is exactly what was intended when they designed it; a less traveled looking, forboding trail of the old West. I love it at night and once and awhile we'll come up on it with nobody on the trail for a few minutes... nothing like walking through it at night with no others in sight!

whether it was a technical glitch or not,it was oddly timed.

i was on The Haunted Mansion, and in the room with the floting crystal ball with the talking head in it (i think esmerelda, but i dunno). She said "I call upon the spirits from another world to send us a message", and just as that happened the ride stopped, as did esmerelda (if thats her name :0 ). Everything was pitch black, no music, and no light, nothing was heard, and then one of the trumpets started playing music, alone, without anything else, than the ride restarted ten or twenty seconds later, without any message from the CMs over the doom buggies...

Scary..........

cool thread, though!!

Yeah I didnt want to be mean. I used to smoke and would stand in the rain with Pnumonia during a thunderstorm wearing a tinfoil hat to smoke. So, I get it.:rotfl: Sometimes you just gotta.
And yes! seeing that cowboy it really stuck in my mind. When I think about it, I can still see his face very clearly.

ParkHoppa~
That would totally freak me out! They always have an announcement when the ride breaks down. I love the CMs that act all spooky and give you that dead stare.

Yes, sometimes you just *need* a cigarette...it's a nasty habit & I don't want to smoke forever, though. If I can wait til I get to the "smoker's corral", the other people should too  Just out of courtesy, *** you never know if someone's day at DL will be ruined *** if they're allergic to cigarette smoke. Alot of first timers might not know about the designated areas, at least I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt :)

If I see your cowboy friend on my next trip, I'll be sure to say HI!

I call b.s. No one likes Small World. :rotfl2:

Seriously, though, no one likes it enough to spend their afterlife there. Ugh.

maybe the ring around the campfire for marshmallow roasting [you know the *warm* afterlife] got over booked and IASM is the overflow? or the Lobby?:rotfl:

Esmeralda is a nice name, however, it is not the correct name for the Haunted Mansions ever so wondrous and all seeing seer, which is Madam Leota.
There is little leota, that speaks to one, from beyond the grave, as you are departing from your Haunted Mansion survival (clears throat) I mean experience, letting you know, not to forget to bring your death certificate, for they are dying to meet you!

I am the kind of person, that will share the no flash photography rule, to those that are either unaware, or disinclined to acquiesce, and to tell children that are running, not to, so in the event that I might see (which I have not yet) a poor smoker, who is like the flashing offender, I would speak to them of the rules, and let them know, where they are free to smoke, unimpeded, and I would try not to let them know how bad smoking is for them, because the other park visitor might not appreciate it. Not that telling smokers that, would be anything new for me.

There are a couple of ghosts that like to ride Peter Pan at night. The man is tall and bald, and the lady has big hair. It is said that they let themselves on the ride when the park closes at night and they are always the last ones in line! :scared:

They are not ghost. The Andersons are real people. I saw them last time I was there. They were outside Haunted Mansion during Fantasmic. Later they were in line directly in front of me for Mr. Toads Wild Ride and then right before park closing waiting in line for Peter Pan. They were last in line. I had read some of these post and read the descriptions of the Andersons before my trip and I was able to identify them pretty easily. They do stand out.

HM glitched on my son and I once. I don't know if it was a haunting or just a glitch, but we were exiting the attic (where the hatbox ghost is going in) and the ride just stopped. We were the only ones on the ride as it was the first ride of the morning on a low crowd day. Anyway, no announcements or anything, then when it turned back on, the soundtrack didn't line up with the ride. So, maybe it was that little boy whose ashes were not allowed to be scattered. Or just a glitch. I like the ghost idea though, so why not?

HM glitched on us off and on in nov 2014, like every few mins it would stop. We think it was because a kid was crying but it was pretty neat/hunting. So maybe that counts?

Maybe the cowboy ghost was Pecos Bill. He appeared thousands of times at GHS, after all :)

Those are not "glitches" sillies! They are ghosties that are attempting to materialize before your very eyes! ..... ha!
Don't be shy. Just say hi. And maybe if you're lucky, they may give you a great big surprise! Or...... a delightful? fright!
If you should decide to depart before your time, it will be by far too late! But! There is always the ghost hosts way! Just look up. And...........remember......there's always room for one more. Muahahahahaha!!

:scared:

:faint:

There are stories of a Doombuggy in the Haunted Mansion that is supposedly really haunted. I don't remember the details, but if you do a search for "haunted Doombuggy", something will probably come up.
