Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me!!! We woke up today ready for the main event...The Pirate's League! The kids had been looking forward to this day for a long time. Before the trip we ordered costumes off of ebay. That was an adventure in itself! I knew it was going to be sweltering, so I had to find something cool. Then, all the girl costumes were so inappropriate! I was flabbergasted by how skimpy and suggestive they could be. I had to do some creative cutting on Ethan's to turn the pants into shorts. I just raggedly chopped off the legs. I figured that the more tattered it looked, the better!
Our reservation was for 9, I think! I can't remember! I know it was right when the park opened. We had to be there 15 minutes early, which meant we would be let in early. At the last minute Finn decided that he didn't want to do it. He was still feeling a bit off, and I think it scared him a bit. Scott ended up dropping us off at the Ticket and Transportation center and Sophie, Ethan, and I headed to the monorails. He was going to meet his parents and park the car.
Waiting for the monorail
When we arrived at MK, we walked to the left and told the CM that we had a reservation. They let us right in. Now I know why people want the early breakfast ADRs! It was so cool being in the park before opening!
We got right up to Adventureland.
There were two pirates there ready and waiting. They said that as soon as rope drop hit, they would escort us to the makeover. Soon we heard the opening song. Hopefully one day we will see the show! They lowered the rope and escorted us to The Pirate's League!!!
When you get there, you have to choose numbers (I think?) and then they match the numbers to names in their book. This is how you get your pirate name.
Ethan was Richard Goodhawk and Sophie was Maria Treasurehound.
Then Ethan's tears started. They began to lead us to the chairs where the makeover would take place. He was so scared. He wouldn't sit down. Sophie's makeover had started in the chair next to Ethan. I finally got him to sit down on my lap. He was still crying and wouldn't choose a style.
Meanwhile, Sophie is getting a tattoo. Ouch!

She was also getting her nails done.
She chose the normal girly look. The other choice (well, besides the typical boy looks) was the mermaid. This was the last day they were offering it. We had done our homework and knew that with the mermaid look, they offer special nail polish. But really, that was it. The original look was much more detailed. So, before the trip I ordered the mermaid nail polish they were giving away. Done.
I didn't really get to watch any of Sophie's progress because I was focused on trying to convince Ethan to do the makeover. I was just about to give up and cancel, when the CM pulled out the bag with the bandana, eye patch, etc. and said that she really wanted to give it to him, but couldn't unless he was a pirate. She also whispered in his ear and told him about the sword. He said that he didn't want a lot of makeup. I told her to just do the whole thing (on the sly). His issue was the anxiety again. I think he really thought he'd turn into a pirate if he got the makeup. I knew that once he had it on, he'd love it. So he went through with it! How did it turn out?
Sophie taking her oath (I think?)
They are standing inside the room that they do the secret ceremony in. I can't tell you what happens in there, or I'd have to kill you. Seriously.
But here are some more pictures!
Up next...more pirates!
