Spin off of topless little girls....

How about this scenario?

My neighbor's 6 year old son wandered over here a couple of weeks ago in nothing but his undies... now, he was covered but I felt it was inappropriate for him to be over here in nothing but his underpants- I leaned out the back door, asked her if he had any shorts and asked her to have him go home to put some on.

How would you have handled that. I'm not sure why he was running around in his underwear- oh, and he had to go through the front yard because our yard is fenced, it's a busy street so anyone driving by saw him.

I'd have laughed and handled it about the same... except I'd have addressed the boy directly. "Billy! Don't you own any shorts? Go home and put 'em on! No one wants to see your undies!" I'm a little puzzled you needed to ask his mother if he had any shorts - of course he has them! He's just not wearing them.

Honestly it wouldn't occur to me to worry about "strangers" seeing him. It's a little boy in underwear - so what? I hardly think he's going to cause a traffic accident.

Are you going through a heat wave down there?

Yeah, we've had some heat this summer!

I did address him directly and got a blank stare- I think he thought I was kidding.

I'd do a double take if I saw a child out in front of their house in nothing but their underwear, "Was that kid dressed in nothing but his underoos?" "Looked like it"

At your own house, in your own yard- fine. But to go over to the neighbors? Not so much.

We don't have sons, but IF we did, they wouldn't run around in their underwear outside. Shorts, swim trunks -- yes. No shirt? Sure, at times when that's appropriate for men. If we'd had boys, I'd have them take their "appropriate coverage" clues from their father (who does not show off his underwear), just as our girls take theirs from me.

I would have done the same, except I would have told him to get a shirt, too.

I would wonder why he isnt wearing a bikini top, that is what theyre for

My two year old has been running around in his undies for the last two days! He's been wearing boxer briefs and a tshirt to bed and the last couple of days I really haven't seen the need to change him, the boxer briefs look like knit shorts and the tshirt is fine. We have been busy with "spring" cleaning and such so he is getting messy and I don't want him to mess up any good clothes. We even ran to McDonalds drive thru last night and I didn't dress him. Now if we had to go to Grocery Shopping or somewhere were we would be in public I would get him dressed.

You were nice. Usually people call the police whenever I run around my neighborhood in my undies. Da haters!

:rolleyes1

This brings back the memory I have from last year of my 50-something pot-bellied neighbour out in his yard helping to push his wife's car in his tighty-whities! I'd rather see a little boy in his any day over that! :rotfl:

In our house we aren't too bothered about what we wear - underwear are rather normal for us. Out in the yard where we might be seen, we do tend to put on clothes, though sometimes my kiods forget and I have to haul them back in ..... what can I say, it's always hot here!
