Spin-off of tat thread: piercings other than ears

Not anymore - just my ears done now. Three in one and two in the the other. Though I rarely wear earrings in any of them.

I used to have my eyebrow, nose, nipple, tongue pierced twice and belly button pierced twice. One at the top of the belly button and one at the bottom.

I was VERY young when I did all those - in my teens - as well as all my tatoos. Good things about piercings - you can take them out!

Way back inthe day, double pierced ears was considered radical so I had a second set of holes. Then I went into the work force and let the second set grow over. Now I have just one set of earrings. Then, about 10 years ago I had my naval pierced. To tell you the truth it was a pain in the neck and it was constantly getting infected. Eventually, I couldn't take it anymore and I let it heal up. The actual piercing process didn't hurt though and I'm a pretty big wimp too.

My ears..and I did have my belly button pierced...twice. But my body rejected it...my skin kept getting thinner where it was holding the piercing in place till one day when i bent over in bed to pick up the phone..POP! the skin broke in two! It looked really disgusting for awhile..now I have a weird looking scar.

I really, really wanted to pierce my eyebrow in high school but my parents were ADAMANTLY against it.

Still wish I had though, as my Corporate type job defintiely wouldn't allow for it now (plus at 31, it would look rather strange vs how I think it would have looked at 16 - imo).

Just my ears - 3 in the left, 2 in the right. I want more up my left ear, but I sleep on that side and a coworker with 11 earrings in her ear said that I probably wouldn't be able to sleep like that!

I've wanted nose and eyebrow piercings for a while. But I'm getting on the "old" side...and I'm looking for a job, so it won't fly (along with my purple hair)!

Ready to be grossed out? I had my ears pierced professionally, but I had a bad reaction to either the solution or the jewelry. My skin started growing over my earring! I had to go to the ER and have them scrape it off and remove the earring. I tried to save the other one, but the same thing happened. It was Christmas day, and I couldn't take it anymore, so we went to my mom's uncle's doctor's office, and he did the same thing there. My entire extended family went to the office, too. We have a big family picture outside his practice after the minor surgery. I'm not smiling in the picture.

I still wanted my ears pierced, so after my ears healed, my gramma pierced my ears the "NDN way" with a needle and thread. No bad reactions, but I had to stretch the holes to wear regular earrings, and that was painful.

After all that, I never wear earrings!!! :lmao: When I do, I have to shove them through to break the skin.

I wanted a tongue piercing as a teen, but that urge has long passed. I did the fake eyebrow ring for a while, too.

Now I just have one hole in my ears, I've let everything else grow back. But....in my teens I had 12 piercings in my ears including cartlidge (only 1 professional, rest by friends), naval (by me), nose (by me), eyebrow (by me), and tongue (professional). Yes, I went through a wild child spell :). The tongue hurts the worst to have pierced and it stayed swollen for like a month and it couldn't be unscrewed so it had to be cut out with vise grips. I do have tiny scars everywhere I was pierced. By 19, I took everything out and just wear earrings on occassion.

None anymore, but I used to have 8 holes in each ear, my tongue, eyebrow and labret. Boy, I miss my piercings! I'm thinking about going and getting my ears repierced, my DDs want theirs done but will only do it if I get mine done first. I must heal pretty quickly because I have friends who have taken their earrings out for months or years and they can pop them right back in, I tried and ALL of my holes are closed.

I have my tongue pierced. I've had it for at least I would say 9 years now. I tend to forget its there at times. Other than my ears (which I'm amazed are not closed since I hardly ever wear earrings anymore) that's the only piercing I have.

No tattoos and one set of "regular" earlobe piercings only. I don't like tattoos or body piercings at all.

No piercings now other than my industrial now. Used to have my eyebrow, tongue and my nipples pierced :rolleyes1. Also had 13 ear piercings at one point, and I stretched my lobe piercings up to 00 gauge.

No tats and no piercing except the single one in each ear. I find both tats and piercing to be a turn-off.

I have my tragus pierced as well as my earlobes. I have other non disboard friendly piercings as well.

I have my tragus done too. :)

How much did it hurt? How long was it sore?

My belly button hurt like CRAZY when I got it done, but I freaked myself out over it, in reality it wasn't that bad. Just breathe deep and even and you'll be fine. :) It was sore for a maybe a month after, I just made sure that whatever I wore didn't rub on it and I soaked it in saltwater regularly.

But here's what I think everybody really wants to know: Are piercings low-class?

:rotfl:

:lmao::thumbsup2

So when you took your lobe piercings out what happened? Did they heal or did you have to have them fixed surgically? I've always wondered about that. I tried to gauge my ears from 16 to 14 and OMG it hurt so bad.....LOL

I have my ear lobes double pierced, my tragus pierced, my cartiledge pierced (tragus & cartiledge in 1 ear only, the right ear) and my belly button, that's it for me. :)

Advanced warning...this might make people squeamish!

I had my belly button pierced when I was 15, it was the worst pain I have ever felt, a million times worse than my tatoo! It was 9 years ago and I can still remember how much it hurt!

Then just three weeks later, I was on a water slide and it got caught and ripped out! That pain wasn't even as bad as having it done in the first place, but it sure bled a lot! Even after it healed, I have a scar and didn't want it redone...I did really like it though, I thought it was pretty!

Actually, I have a coworker whose cat got his claw caught in her belly button ring and caused it to rip. :scared1:

They actually healed, I was surprised :P I didn't want to take them out, but I was talked into doing it so I could wear "pretty" earrings when I got married the first time. Regretted it ever since. And I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I stretched them myself, from normal earrings slowlyish to the 00 gauge...

Just out of curiosity, why did you guys get ear piercings if you don't like piercings? Is it the holes in the body that get you or just when people get them in "unconventional" spots? I'm not trying to be snotty (just had to point that out since you never can be sure in print). :thumbsup2

I also wonder why you had your ears pierced since you dont like them and they are a turn off. This was a thread for people who have or had piercings other than their ears. What was the point of even posting here?

It totally skeeves me out but I'm too afraid to take it out. I had surgery about a year ago and the nurses took it out for me after I was put out, and I didn't want it back in, but when I woke up, there it was, like a bad penny.

Why are you afraid? When I took out my first one (story on the end of first page) I just got a pair of jewelry pliers, held one side and pulled the ring on the other side of the ball. It was easy and done in a minute. I've blocked out the experience taking the second one out, but I'm sure the same jewelry pliers were used.

I'm sure you could even just pop into a piercing place and have them take it out if you don't want to deal with it yourself.

I must heal pretty quickly because I have friends who have taken their earrings out for months or years and they can pop them right back in, I tried and ALL of my holes are closed.

Wow. I had my first ear-holes done at 4, they have never even thought about closing. Second hole done at 15, that one gets a bit "sticky" when putting an earring in, but no big deal. Third one done at 21, and that gets sort of closed in the middle, and can hurt a tad if I want to put an earring in, but no huge problem.

Quite a difference from the navel piercings. :)

That's what I did when I had mine removed. I couldn't handle removing it myself, so I went back to the place that pierced me originally and they were fine with removing it. It took about a minute total. :)
