Spin-off: bye bye Pepsi?

Maybe they have been raising prices and it has stopped selling, but that isn't what I got from the story. It sounded like more of a protest move than people not buying.
I think it was more
Preventative. Also don’t forget that Pepsi and Coke in Europe tend to be pricier than in the US. I’ve seen vodka and beer in Poland and Hungary that were cheaper than Coke. And while they like soda, they don’t drink near the amount that we do.

NOTE: France most popular soft drink is COKE by far, and Pepsi has a very small market anyway.

The store made their decision and I'll leave it up to them, not people on the internet. I'll leave it up to the company if it was a good business move. Making it news was a good thing if it can help wrangle some of these greedy companies. I only wish all end consumers would be so committed to not buying these overpriced products.
Yet you're perfectly happy with a store telling it's customers what is over priced or not. This isn't a case of greedy corporation vs the little guy. This is a case of one greedy corporation vs another greedy corporation. And we're right back to my original post which you haven't refuted. I'm perfectly capable of determining for myself what is or isn't over priced thank you very much. I won't be relying on some store on a publicity stunt, to try and prop up its store brands. And I won't be relying on to use your words, someone on the internet.
In the words of Steve Urkel, au contraire mon frere [sic], remember that Carrefour is in Europe and Europeans will in fact NOT pay for something if it's priced too high. They simply won't tolerate high prices whether it's on Pepsi or other things. I once asked an Italian why it's so much cheaper to see concerts in Europe than it is the US and she replied that "because you idiots will pay those high prices, we won't." She had a point and that is why I'm seeing Taylor Swift in Warsaw Poland.
I prefer Bart Simpson to Steve Urkel myself.
Nobody will pay for anything if they truly think the price is too high. That isn't a trait unique to Europeans. Furthermore everyone's point where the price is too high depends on their preferences and their budget. But the store cannot know exactly what decrease in quantity will be with a price increase until it happens. In the real world, people don't wear utility/budget constraint meters that reveal what someone will or will not pay beforehand. Only after preferences are revealed can we know. They're trying to set themselves up as the great defender of the people to pump up their own store brand. Nothing more.

Very true, I've definitely bought vodka at a bar for less than a soda in Europe.

Walmart too. Except Walmart gets called out for picking on suppliers. Go figure.

Walmart does something totally different. They sign up companies with popular brands to supply them. Then, when the supplier is dependent upon them, they lean on them for price breaks forcing said company to either cut corners on their product. And of course Walmart will gladly help their suppliers out and send their efficiency experts to make suggestions. And the suggestion is always make cheap crap in China. That isn't what is happening here.

Not sure Walmart is different than any other store as the brands I buy at Walmart are the same as other grocery stores. Some canned items like Oysters are from Asia, but so are the ones sold at every other store.

Same brand, but different products/contents, or i should say ingredients. Wally gets companies to make a cheaper version for them on some things, so they can sell it for cheaper than anyone else. Walmart is the reason our food supply is racing to the bottom in the quality race..

Labels are the same, so I don't think there is any difference between brand name products except, like I pointed out, with General Mills cereal with the box size and weight are specific to Walmart. Of course they can dictate how their store brands are made.

EDIT: Easy to check. If the SKU is the same, it is the exact same product.

Okay :scratchin I will be more clear, I disagree with everything you said.

The CUSTOMER of Pepsi is the STORE, and they get to decide what products they buy for whatever reason they want. If they no longer want to carry Pepsi, that is okay. It happens all the time in every kind of store and business, they get to pick what they offer to end users. Given Pepsi's very small market in France, doubt it will have any impact on any level, certainly not worth ruffled feathers.
