Spilt stay with memory maker

We booked a reservation with memory maker for 12/15 to 12/22 in WL. Thinking of arriving the night before, 12/14 but staying at Pop to save money. Will we be able to use MM then or do we have to wait till we check in to WL on 12/15?

Memory Maker isn't tied to your reservation. It just needs to be purchased at least 3 days before the first picture is taken.

I called and asked a similar question. I was told that Memory Maker was good for 30 days from the day the first picture is taken and it doesn't matter if you split your stay.

Not quite. 30 days from DOWNLOADING your first picture, not the first picture taken. Key distinction.

That's what I thought also. I called a second time after getting this information from a CM on the phone. The CM I spoke with during the second call said she didn't know the answer and spoke to someone above her. Here's what I was told: you can buy Memory Maker any time; when you have the first picture taken, you can use then use Memory Maker for 30 days and you have 30 days to download the pictures. The question arose because I could not book the resort I wanted for my whole stay so I am splitting my stay. The cast member was under the impression that it could only be used for the resort stay and had to ask for clarification.

Hmmmm. The answer is mostly correct I guess but not quite how I would answer it.

Essentially, your photos individually will be available for 45 days after they were taken. This is the standard expiration policy that applies to all PhotoPass photos regardless of whether they were purchased or not, as purchasing a photo does not extend its lifetime in anyway.

Your Memory Maker entitlement, much like a park ticket, has no real expiration date and is not tied to your resort stay really. The timer doesn't really start until you download your first photo. Once you do that, it actually activates your memory maker which activates all eligible photos in your account for downloading (generally, any photos active beyond the 72 hour waiting period still available in your account) AND makes any photos taken in the next 30 days eligible for downloading as well. That still does not make your 30 day old photos available for 15 more days - they're still going to expire on day 45. However, every time you hit the download all button a photo download order is created in your account and these photo downloads are available for 30 days regardless of when the photos expire.

Let's say you activated your memory maker and downloaded your photos. Then on day 44, right before your first day's photos expire you hit download all. An order is generated that has all of your photos available to download dated day 44. At day 45 at the time your photo was taken your first set of photos expire and are removed from the site. However, you hit download all on day 44 and that download is available for 29 more days even though your day one photos are gone.
