I discovered the new Spidey And His Amazing Friends series on Disney+ and I can say Disney Junior has hit a home run out of the ballpark with this cartoon series. Considering it's the first Marvel series aimed at the younger set I found the series really cute and young Spidey is so awesome. I found it shocking that Black Panther is featured in this series and his younger self is cute too. I can tell you right now that Spidey merchandise will be hot for Christmas due to this series

I saw the second episode of this series and I am impressed at how Marvel is attracting the audience of children ages 3 to seven with Spidey And His Amazing Friends and by having Disney Junior air it shows it as the start of new Marvel cartoons aimed at the younger set. Maybe Marvel will begin a new line called Marvel Jr. with comics and merchandise for the younger kids who aren't ready for the real comics yet?

You know, I do like that they are making shows appropriate for the younger kids, but to me it also highlights a problem that Marvel Comics (and other companies) which is that the "real comics" have become so inappropriate for kids. They weren't always that way, but for a while now they seem to only target that 18 to 35 demographic, which is not traditionally the main audience for comics. The sweet-spot used to be about 10 to 14 year olds, however the books were made with an "all ages" approach (we might call it "8 to 80" but those aren't hard numbers). Nowadays they take themselves way to seriously and pepper in a lot of mature themes. When they do make all-ages books, they feel like a lesser product, just thrown together with no care. Kids don't want that - they know when they are being pandered to. Things can be for all ages AND also of a high quality that speaks to kids and adults.
