I don't have ONE card that gets me 2% back on all of those, but I have a combination of cards that I use that get me between 2-5%:

Costco American express: no annual fee other than your Costco membership ( which I would have anyway). 2% on travel, 3% on gas, 1% on everything else.

Chase freedom: quarterly rotating categories that earn 5%' such as travel, restaurants, gas, clothing stores, etc. Plus, 10 points on each transaction (no matter the size) and 10% bonus on points each month.

Discover card- same as above wrt rotating categories. This quarter included online shopping up to $1500, so that was an easy $75!

I have the target card too, I believe there is N annual fee, but it's more than offset by the 5% back on everything (including gift cards they sell) and free shipping on anything from the website.

I'm not anti- annual fee if I feel the benefits/ perks outweigh the fee. I have a number of cards with fees.

No annual fee on the Target card.

If you have a Chase VISA (or other Chase credit card) and a Chase checking account, you get an extra 10 points for each transaction and an extra % (I think 1%) as a bonus for each transaction.

Amex Blue

3% on groceries
2% gas
1% everything else.

I use my Disney Visa for all 1% everywhere else.

I just opened a bank of america card, You get:

3% on gas
2% on groceries
1% on everything else

Plus $100 to open the account, and you can redeem your rewards in $25 increments!!

I know you said you didn't want one with an annual fee, but the blue cash preferred more than makes up for its annual fee. It has 6% on groceries, 3%on gas, 3% department stores, and 1% on everything else. I looked at both the amex blue and amex blue preferred and ran the numbers and the blue preferred makes us way more $$ even taking the fee into consideration. Be aware too that Amex only counts stand alone groceries stores as "groceries" not big box stores like super walwart, or super target.

We have the Costco True Earnings American Express card as well.

We also use the USAA Mastercard reward card. We get points for every dollar we spend and then redeem the points for gift cards to local places. Love eating at Bonefish and it helps with the bill.

Is this typical of most cards for groceries? I had never thought of that and was going to apply and switch cards that I'm using. We only have Walmart to grocery shop at.

Even 1% would net larger rewards than I've got anyways. I have a Sears mastercard and I get a $50 gas card for 6900 points (can get a lot of different cards, but gas is what I redeem), which isn't too great. It takes me about 4 months to get that where 3% on gas and 1% for everything else would get me $30/month cash back with just gas, groceries, and monthly utility bills that I can use a card with.

I am not quite understanding how you are spending way too much on CC if you have no annual fee.

I have a few cards. I have the Fidelity American Express which pays 2% on all purchases. I use that as much as I can, but some places don't take Amex.

I also have a Disney Visa with Chase.

Those are my main 2 credit cards.
