hi everyone,

My partner and I are going to Disney world for our honeymoon and are going for 14 nights. We have the Disney dining plan so have no need to spend on food. We are staying on Disney property and plan on going to universal two times.

How much spending money would you recommend taking?

Thank you,
Ash & Yaz

Depends, are you big drinkers and do you like souvenirs? We are big drinkers, but don't tend to buy a lot of stuff. That said, we generally spend about $500 for a week with tips and drinks and a few purchases. Remember that the dining plan doesn't include tips, and while we love the dining plan it does mean we have to budget about $20 a day for that. I would plan to bring $1000 for 2 weeks just to be safe.

^^Agreed, I would bring $1000 for two weeks as well, which is actually what I'm going to do! :)

Universal parking $40
Tips (Based on $80-100 TS meals every day) - $15-$18/day x 14 = $210-$252
Universal Food (sticking to CS) $30-$40/person/day = $120-$160

So before you get to alcohol, souvenirs, extra snacks, extra activities, you are at $370-$452. On your honeymoon, I'd expect some drinks and other "fun" things, so I'd think I'd add $50/day for just because and I'd have $1070 minimum (and more likely $1500 saved up, b/c you might want TS at Citywalk, Blue Man tickets, extra breakfasts/snacks at Disney, etc)...

If you are going on your honeymoon, make sure to factor in that you're probably going to want to shell out a little more money than normal for some keepsake souvenirs. We went to Disnelyand for our honeymoon and my husband bought a $200 watch and I bought a Disneyland 60th plate and ornament and that all came to about $300 alone, not counting other things we bought here and there. : ) Also like other have said don't forget to have cash for parking and tipping

I was thinking this, too--you might want a special keepsake to commemorate your grand occasion.

I would go with at least $1500. Look at it this way--if there's extra, well, that's a bonus for when you get home (maybe for a nice dinner on return day?). It's always better to have more than you think you'll need. You never know when you might get stuck at an airport, or have some other unexpected expense.

Also might want to consider bringing around $50 for tipping mousekeeping, bell services and the bus driver for DME when giving you your luggage.

I think 1,500 dollar mark is better, with being on your honeymoon you will want to splurge some. That way your covered and if you have extra put it in the 1st anniversary trip fund...

I always try to calculate the all the people to tip while on vacation. Mousekeeping, Servers, baggage handlers, uber or taxi, and if you are taking DME to and from tipping the driver and such.

Also travel day food, and beverages... airport food is costly... or if your driving adding in gas.

Last year some friend where trying to get home due to the weather in the north the could not get out, so an extra night, they got lucky and had not left their resort and were able to extend another day...they even got to stay in the same room. So depending on where you live you might want to have a emergency fund for this type of scenario.

Do you plan to do any shopping while here? we have 2 great outlet malls, and 2 large malls. If you are you will need extra for that..

On a sidebar; You might want to Uber back and forth when heading to Universal, City walk is fun at night so you can enjoy some adult beverages without the worry. For a nice dinner you might want to try Vivo Italian Kitchen this is one of DH and I date night spots the other is Antojitos they have a really good food and they have a blood orange margarita that is so good...

Everyone's budget is so different. The answer to this question would depend on the security of your jobs, how much you have in savings, any debt for the wedding, any expensive purchases such as a home in the near future, etc, etc.

I generally budget $200 per day, but that includes counter service meals for 2. Any table service meals I budget for on their own. It's worked pretty well for the last 10 years or so, but our last trip this past September had me a little nervous. I'll probably up that to $225 - $250/day next time.

"Bring more money and less stuff" says the mouse....
