On our trip in October, we are planning on spending an afternoon and evening exploring Fort Wilderness. We're actually staying at Pop Century for this trip, but we want to check out Fort Wilderness because we are thinking of getting a cabin there for our trip next May.

Our plan is to have dinner at Trail's End and then do the campfire. What is there to do before dinner? Any neat things to see or explore? It will be me, DH, and our 18 month old. I know there is a petting farm. I think our little guy would love that, so we will be sure to put that on our list. What else is there to do there?

Any info. is appreciated!

There are pony rides right by the petting farm! You can walk alongside the pony to keep your little one from falling off.

You can visit the blacksmith shop, visit the horses at the stables, go for a hike down the swamp trail, rent a fishing pole and fish in the little lake in the Meadows area, play on the beach....

You can also rent a golf cart and explore the campground that way!

That all sounds great. Thanks!

Campfire with Chip and Dale.
Movies every night.

There is a horse drawn carriage that will take you around part of the campground for $30 per 1/2 hour. If you will be there mid to late October you can check out the Halloween decorations at many of the campsites. There is also a hay ride, the electric water parade, and watching the MK fireworks from the beach. There are 2 shops to look through and 2 arcades. In the evening there are several small kiosk outside pioneer hall that will be open selling things. Of course you will want to catch a bus to the other end of the campground and check out the cabin loops, pools, tennis courts, and playgrounds. The pools are nothing to see but if you are planing to stay at FW you should see what they are like. There are many other things to do at FW but with just spending the evening your time will be very limited.

FYI..Unless things have changed in the last 3 months you must be a registered guest to rent a golf cart.

you can also go to the bike barn and rent all kinds of equ.
There are 2 stores to shop at. the campground has 750 acres. You can take the walking trail to WL.

I am interestedin doing the campfire too!
Where can I get info, as to what time it is, how much, etc.?

Also, do I need reservations?

Thanks!

From WDWIG:

Go to Fort Wilderness for the campfire/sing-along, nightly at 7pm behind the Meadow Trading Post. Movie begins approximately 7:40pm. A Disney classic movie follows the sing-along. Chip and Dale usually make an appearance. The Fort Wilderness staff will provide a campfire; bring your marshmallows, hot dogs and sticks if you have them. If not, marshmallows and sticks are available for purchase at $2 for 2 sticks and plenty of marshmallows; $5 for a s'more kit. The movie shown is different each night of the week. In the event of inclement weather, a "Porch Jam" sing-a-long will take place at the Ol' Meadow Swimmin' Hole. Movie & Sing-a-Long free of charge. Note: All movies & characters are outside! Campfire Show is held nightly if weather permits.
