Speculation - Could Garden View Rooms at Contemporary be next DVC like VGF2?

While we anxiously await the VGF “2” sales, figured some PURE SPECULATION could be fun…wondering your thoughts if DVD will take similar approach at Contemporary like they did with VGF. I don’t know if the garden rooms have been refurbed yet like the ongoing tower refurb but I could see it. CCV, PVB, VGF….could an addition to BLT “2” happen in the somewhat distant future? I guess it all defends on RIV and VGF sales! Somehow they will look to replace reflections. With a property already built, it may be a more cost effective strategy for them to convert hotel rooms to DVC. Then again there is also a demand for hotel inventory with reflections scheduled to be a mix-use property. Please share your thoughts!

Others have speculated this as well and it seems reasonable. One of the counterarguments is that the contemporary is a busy convention space and the additional hotel rooms helps support that. Not sure anybody can say for certain sans inside knowledge, but it does seem within the realm of possibility.

Unlikely Garden View rooms at the Contemporary. These are the least-expensive rooms on the Monorail and, because of this, are nearly always full.

One of the reasons the Grand Floridian was selected is because prior to VGF2, the Grand Floridian had 867 cash rooms. With VGF2, it's now down to 668 cash rooms.

By far, the biggest Deluxe Resort is Animal Kingdom Lodge, which has 943 cash rooms. Turning the fourth floor into another DVC would reduce that number to 600 cash rooms.

And the Animal Kingdom Lodge is nearly always the last Deluxe Resort to fill-up. From a numbers perspective, the 4th floor of AKL makes the most sense.

Interesting idea, I’d love contemporary becoming dvc and would consider buying in if I don’t buy gfv

that said there is a ton of dvc inventory on the monorail already, are there other resorts/gates that make more sense

the Epcot area to me feels more logical as a hotel room conversion. Caveat being it would have to be a new association as beach club and boardwalk expire too soon. I know many disagree with me and say NEVER but yacht club to me is a top candidate

yc is also the only deluxe hotel without dvc and the only resort where a new association unencumbered could be created. Heck they could even add restrictions like riv given it would be a brand new association

I don’t think they renovated the garden room buildings like they did the Contemporary. I have heard probably someone dreaming that they would tear down the garden room building and build BLT2. WL had occupancy issues so they made CCV. Now VGF2 for probably the same reason. I foresee a 5 star luxury resort being built in the next few years by Disney near the MK.

YC makes tons of sense as a DVC all depending on what convention business looks like in this post covid world. I also think Swan Reserve will take demand away from cash YC rooms….

Honestly the swan reserve is built around conventions and business trips. I see the reserve eating a lot of convention travel, if it ever returns

the suites at the reserve which make up a significant number of the rooms cater to meetings. The living room has a large 8 person conf table with its own flat screen tv intended to be used for presenting. The reserve is a yc killer in my view. So the arguments of yc being there for conventions, I think yc will see a decrease in conventions so why not take a floor and convert to dvc. See how that goes and move from there
