Spectromagic's return? Any ideas, info, rumors?

Hoping to see MSEP. According to the Disney calendar, when we are there from 9/24-10/1, MSEP is on the calendar. Of course it could change but as of now if it does come back in the fall, it would be after September.

The calendar is posted through November (has been for about a month) and December hours are just a few days from being posted.

Regardless, last year they had Spectro posted for months in advance, but simply changed the listings (or didn't even bother to change it on many calendars) when the Summer Nightastic and MSEP were announced.

The calendars are usually not a very reliable source of advance information for pending changes like this.

That said, I don't expect MSEP to go away until sometime in 2012.
(But, stay tuned, just in case.) ;)

I prefer SpectroMagic.

I really like the idea of moving MSEP to DHS. That way everyone should be happy.

I really wish Spectro would come back. I honestly do not care for MSEP at all.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefers Spectro. When MSEP came back last year everyone was so excited. It made me exicted to see it for the first time. I was underwhelmed. I miss Spectro.

I miss Spectromagic too - that is the nostalgia parade for me - I grew up with Spectro!! I'm sorry but the music from MSEP is really annoying!!

I hope MSEP stays until December. I have yet to see it and really want to.

We're going back next February. I hope Spectro is back by then. I didn't like MSEP. My son wanted to know why none of his favorites (Ariel, Belle & the Beast especially) were not there. But honestly, I can't remember if they were in Spectro, and I doubt he does, as he wasn't as into Ariel when we went in 2009.

I also prefer SpectroMagic not only for the parade but especially for the magical music :dance3:

EXACTLY!!!!! MSEP is "not bad", but the music is what really makes SpectroMagic, Magical!!! Disney, if you are listeing, please bring Spectro back for the 40th anniversary on Oct 1st!!

I was really excited to see MSEP because I had never seen it (never went as a child) and I loved that it was an old Disney thing. We did enjoy it...dd loved the little bugs and the dragon. But I gotta say...the music that plays with Spectro just feels like Disney home to me. I miss hearing that music play, even when we weren't watching the parade, just being nearby it filled the area with such a great feeling. I hope Spectro makes it back soon!

I agree with all the Spectro fans here...the music is what makes it nostalgic to me. I was hoping it would be back by our next trip....

Then again, Baroque Hoedown has been around much longer than Spectromagic, so really that is the more nostalgic piece.

I was so excited to the MSEP back because of nostalgic reasons but now am looking forward to spectromagic because although MSEP is from my childhood, spectro is from the early part of my marriage while we lived in o-town and think that one will be really special to see again too.

Yes MSEP goes back to 1977, Spectro only 1991.

It anything should be playing for the 40th it should be MSEP.

Its like when people want CoP to go back to the original sound track of "Now is the Time" from the GE years not realizing that "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" is the original song and "Now is the Time" was an ad to sell appliances. ;)

Its just what you grew up with, I have only seen MSEP (1977 as a teenager, 1999 with my family and 2011 again with my family) so thats my night time parade that I grew up with.

Chartle - you typed the words right out of my mouth. I wasn't sure when I first saw MSEP, but I remember being little and on my Dad's shoulders, I too love CoP - both songs, but lean more towards Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow - it's my ring tone.

If anything I think they would keep MSEP around for the 40th. Yes the music can be a little kookie, but remember in the 70's that was some cutting edge technology. :rotfl:

And in the 70's early 80's there was no Belle / Ariel / Simba - fill in any more recent character. There is nothing wrong with those newer characters...it's just nice to have some nostalgia. It was cool for me as a kid to see Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Dumbo,The Blue Fairy...and of course Pete's Dragon....the smoke coming out of his nose..the noises he made...I can hear the musics right now. And I just realized I have the cd of the music sitting on my desk. Woo Hoo! I'm listening to it now and it brings back so many memories. I'm such a goof because it makes me tear up.

Maybe they could combine them and create the Main Street Spectro Electrical Parade?

I had really had my hopes up, that the electrical parade would only be a 1 year thing, but I'm coming to the conclusion that that's just not going to happen. Honestly, I fear that Spectro will be gone for years:guilty: When I think about it, it just doesn't make sense to me, that they'd bring in a whole new parade for just a short period of time. I'd guess, it's going to be for a while, but I'll be sooo happily surprised if it comes back soon. I love:love: Spectro., and really just don't care much at all about MSEP.

Here is something for you, I just taped it last week.

Sorry for the long intro. I wanted to include the full sound track. Maybe I'll edit in some footage that I took 10 years ago of the parade.

I grew up with MSEP. I used to watch it on the corner of Main Street with my grandmother. Now that she is gone, it brings back memories of those moments.
Spectro is ok. I was never a fan of it, but I didn't grow up with it.

Our first visit to WDW was in 1992, so SpectroMagic is what we have come to love.

I was very happy that we all got to see MSEP, but I sure do wish SpectroMagic comes back real soon! We will be there next summer and would love for it to be back.
