I'm sure this has been answered before, so I apologize for asking again. We are currently booked at the Beach Club in August but am considering switching to Yacht Club only because we have never stayed there and I'd like to be able to cross it off our list lol. We are a huge dog family, have 2 of our own. That being said, my DH doesn't want to be awakened by barking dogs or in a room next to dogs. Are there seperate areas or rooms that are designated to house dogs or can they be anywhere in the resort?

We were booked at the YC and switched to BC after concerns of the dog policy. I, too, am a dog owner but did not want to vacation with dogs. I had 2 very lengthy conversations with guest relations regarding the policy at the YC. All garden view and lagoon view rooms are open to dogs. They try to keep them on the 1st floor but there is no guarantee. They are also allowed on CL.

I was fortunate to have stayed at YC before it "went to the dogs". :D I'm a dog lover and owner as well -MY dogs, at my house, that is. Because there's no guarantee of how other people handle their animals, I won't book a vacation at a resort where you run the risk of a barking dog ruining a night's sleep or relaxing evening. I've also got zero faith in Disney seriously enforcing conduct policy as they typically avoid confrontation with guests. That aside, YC did not blow me away. It felt very much like the "convention side" of those two resorts. If you look at the YC/BC thread here on the DIS, what you'll inevitably find is far more people high on their BC experiences vs YC. For that reason, we're actually looking into booking something at BC this summer in order to give this resort area another go.

There have been reports on these boards that some Dis'ers have observed people walking their dogs on the Boardwalk since YC became pet-friendly. Although this seems to be against the rules, it appears that these rules are not being enforced. So even if staying at BC, you may encounter dogs in the surrounding areas, but at least non-service dogs are not likely to be staying in the room next to you.

I can’t now but if you scroll back on some threads it’s been reported they are not restricted to certain areas and are even welcome in CL rooms.

I agree, I also have zero faith in Disney seriously enforcing the conduct policy! (Seeing the picture of the dog practically sitting on the table at the food court on the above thread was a perfect exampleo_O.)

Simply put, nope! WDW will put them wherever there is a room open.
