I know a lot of people go to WDW in the fall for the Food & Wine Festival, but it doesn't seem that there's as much discussion about the Flower & Garden Festival. Is it as much a "destination" trip as the F&W, or is it more like a nice addition to an already scheduled spring vacation? I guess what I'm asking is if it's worth a special trip down.

Thanks from a gardening lover,
Shannon

Before we bought into DVC, we took weekend trips to WDW in May just for the Flower Show, and we've continued doing that, although now we try to go through Monday. The topiaries and the Flower Power Concerts make the trip worthwhile to me. I've also been to some book signings/author talks, but that's something that seems to be in the past. This year we're bringing my DMom & DSis and we're going Mothers Day weekend.

Now, I'm the sort of person who has flown to Philadelphia for it's Flower Show for about 1/2 of the years that we've lived in Ohio, so I'm sort of a Flower Show groupie.

I am going down for the F&G Festival and the Star Wars Weekend stuff. I can't wait as I have never been during this time. I think it is going to be a blast and I know the flowers and topiaries will be beautifiul. I don't know if it is a special reason to visit or not, but I do know that many people like to visit disney during this time. Guess I will find out when I go this year.

I am also taking a quick trip down during fall break to the F&W and MNNSHP. We have annual passes this year so I am packing in as much as I can. :woohoo:

Hmmm...I think we have reason #462 to visit WDW. It would be so great to take Mom and Grandma to WDW for Mother's Day and FLOWERS!

So, one other question: do you find that a quick weekend trip is enough to see everything at the F&G show?

Thanks!

ABSOLUTELY....Mom and Grandma will L-O-V-E :cloud9: It!!!

I stumbled on it many yrs ago and have been making it a "destination" vacation ever since. Its a beautiful time in WDW...

They have a butterfly garden, topiaries all over, rose gardens..tons of stuff + specialty concerts..I would suggest looking on the allearsnet.com web site for more info as well as Disney's site. :thumbsup2

""Themed weekends to bloom at Epcot®
The 13th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival kicks off this month, running April 21-June 11.

The daily festival, included with Epcot admission, features colorful gardens, elaborate topiary displays, interactive presentations, outdoor concerts and more. This year's event offers a "Romance" theme, with displays celebrating some of Disney's most memorable on-screen couples, from Lady and the Tramp to Belle and the Beast.

Other themes join the fold each weekend, offering unique reasons to take part in the festivities. Here's a look at this year's themed weekends:

April 21-23: Premiere weekend
April 28-30: Party in the Garden
May 5-7: Art in the Garden
May 12-14: Mother's Day
May 19-21: Characters in Bloom
May 21: Teddy Bear and Doll
May 27-29: Memorial Day
June 2-4: I Dig Bugs
June 9-11: Festival Farewell
This year's festival also will feature a variety of new experiences designed for "budding" gardeners, including a Growing Future Gardeners exhibit designed to inspire parents to enjoy gardening with their children, and Tinker Bell's Fairy Garden, where young children may explore a Fairyland filled with pixies and woodland creatures. Visit www.disneyworld.com/flower for more information about this year's event. ""

ENJOY !! :woohoo:

We go every year for the F&G, just love it at EPCOT. I started a thread on the Theme Parks board of Flower & Garden Picture of the day. Pictures now are of previous years F&G and hoping that others will add this years when it opens.

The weather is always nice and warm too. :teeth:

How can you go wrong with F&G and Star Wars weekend going on :darth: :yoda:

I'm pumped! Can't wait for Memorial Day weekend

I'm another one that's going for Flower & Garden and Star Wars! The flowers are BEAUTIFUL - I especially enjoy it because as my husband says, I have a black thumb. I kill everything - even ivy! When we were there three years ago they had Snow White and the Seven Drawves (that doesn't look like I spelled it right!) as topiaries - it was amazing! Also, I read that they have about 100 hidden mickeys in the flowers, which I think is neat - limited time only hidden mickeys!

You'll have a great time - it's beautiful and not very crowded usually!

One of the reasons we go every May is for the Flower and Garden Festival. For one thing, I love the Flower Power Concerts. As a child of that era, I never thought I'd be sitting in Epcot, listening to Steppenwolf belt out "Magic Carpet Ride" or Iron Butterfly doing "InnaGaddaDeVida" (I can't spell it, but hopefully, most people know the song). And every year, I have to see the artist, Larry Dotson, and buy one of his prints. The F&G Festival is a "must-do" for me.
