I heard that if it's your birthday, honeymoon, anniversary etc that you get a pin to let the world now about the special occasion... Which by the sounds of it gets the attention of the CMs and maybe something a little extra... Like maye a Happy Birthday muffin or something...

So I guess I have a couple of questions... Which special occasions do they do this sort of thing for?

Also does that special occasion have to fall when you are there or just pretty close... The reason I ask is that before we get the disneyLAND it is my wifes birthday... After we leave WDW it's my birthday, with our wedding anniversary just before that... All these special occasions happen just outside of the actual times we are at the parks...

My wife would get a kick out of all the attention :)

i only know about the birthday pin.You can get them from city hall at mk and guest relations (i think) at ak.
I think the best thing is to not expect anything special to happen to you, then you will have a magical day anyway. It is entirely up to the cms if they make a fuss of you.

As for you not being there on the actual days....well they don't ask for proof when you ask for a badge.I guess its all done on trust. How sad would it be if someone wore a birthday badge six months before there birthday :confused3

We have gotten the pins if our birthday was within a week of our trip. They don't ask and the CM's are generally great when they see it.

Birthday pins are also available at guest relations at Epcot, MGM and DTD, in addition to City Hall (MK) and GR at AK.

HTH!!! :teeth:

We've only used these on our actual birthdays / anniversaries. We got our buttons at City Hall. The specialness is that "you" feel special. CM's will go out of their way to say Happy Birthday, or Congratulations to you. Enjoy your trip!

Yes, you will want a pin from City Hall.

Be sure, when you make your dinner reservations, to mention whos birthday it is and when it is. We were staying at the WL, and after breakfast, they did a wonderful birthday act and gave him a special (large!) dessert!

Also, at The Plaza in the MK, we ate there one day for lunch and they also brought him out a small cake, and had everyone in the rest. sing H.B.!! It was so much fun!!
We did have to pay for the cake but it was well worth the memories.

If you are dining at the Coral Reef any night, you can call them and ask to have a celebration set up. They will make a cake for you (at a cost) but also personlize the menus and have a diver in the tank swim by with a banner saying whatever you want it to say! Nice idea and great food!

There are a couple of key concepts to discuss here. You can get a birthday (? anniversayr) button at Guest Relations in the Theme Parks to wear on the day you decide. It can be any day you choose to celebrate, no one will verify that it is actually the day of your celebration. When wearing these buttons, people report often being "recognized" by CM's, being addressed by name, wished a happy event etc., That is all, but it can make the day fun and special.
Also if you make ADR's and mention your celebration at the time of your reservaation, you MAY get a special cupcake or memento, whatever. People do report nothing special being done too, and being very disappointed because of that.
The key is: If you want to insure a special occasion and recognition of your occasion, arrange it in advance, where you will be eating. You can order cakes for any occasion at most restaurants. These will cost extra, but insure your celebration. If you expect a free acknowledgement, you may be disappointed. It is easy to avoid disappointment by planning your own celebration at WDW.
In October, I mentioned that it was my anniversary when making ADR's for the Rose & Crown, at desert time they brought us a special desert and sang Happy Anniversary to us. I was surprised and delighted - I did not expect it. This is the best way to go in my opinion.
Just my thoughts.

Thanks everyone for your input...

I understand that nothing may happen... It's the fun of seeing if soemthing will happen that's cool :) Pre-arranging things sucks a bit of the fun out... If it was our 10th anniversary or something extra special then that would be different... I've already made most of our ADRs and didn't think to mention it at the time... I wonder if I can call back and get them to add that info onto the ADR? I'm not going to tell my wife about it... I want to see her face if / when something happens :)

Thanks again everyone...
