I'm starting the plan out what we want to do for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary next year in 2022. The plan is to at least head out with my family, brother's family, and my parents to spend about 6 days at WDW. Currently saving up my points so we can get a 3 Bedroom villa at BLT.

One thing I was thinking of was reserving a portion of TOTWL and having it catered. Has anyone ever tried this before? I haven't called yet, so I'm not even sure its possible. But it'd sure be cool to have dinner up there and watch the fireworks on their 50th!!

Last year we were up at the TOTWL and they had an area on the outside terrace blocked off for a private party/fireworks viewing. They also had the TOTWL closed for a private event on New Year’s Eve last year so they definitely do it. As a member I wasn’t happy they we couldn’t enjoy the New Years up there.

What you saw were special paid member events. There was an event that included ( I believe ) dinner and then dessert in a special reserved area. There was also a paid member new years eve party.

I believe the DIS booked a private breakfast event there associated with their 20th anniversary a few years back so I think it's possible (at least in "off" hours not sure about evenings). I imagine there is a hefty dollar minimum. The Grand Villa is beautiful so in theory you could do your catered dinner there (might have to work with a local company; not sure Disney would do it) and then just head to TotWL as regular DVC guests for fireworks. Another potential option - there used to be a private dining opportunity at the Grand Floridian where you can arrange a private dinner on a balcony and even add a fireworks cruise afterward. Don't think it's offered currently but hopefully by 2022 the option is back. Have fun planning - sounds like a great trip for a special occasion!

I believe the wedding department can book the TOTWL for receptions, but only during the day, before the lounge opens. I don't think you can book an event during normal operating hours. It's probably best to call them and ask.

I suspect there is a price for a private party who is not DVC for a private member event to block out TOTWL during nornormal operating hours. I suspect that the cost is astronomical, however.

They had painting classes at TOTW during the day on certain weekdays. So, it is used.

I booked a private dining room at California Grill, it had it's own fireworks viewing platform. The food and service were great. We had an open bar in the room. There we about 50 of us and we had plenty of room but it didn't feel too big.

I'd suggest booking one of the private dining rooms at California Grill. TOTWL is used for special events but even the member dinners there are just spots roped off if they haven't closed the entire space down to other members. (which FWIW I disagree with - the 4th event and NYE was not appropriate IMO)

Cali Grill would truly be your own private event.
