Special DVC color at front gate?

Brand-spanking new DVC member here--

When scanning in at the front gate of any of the 4 parks, is there a special color other than green that lights up to show that the person is a DVC member?

If so, would that occur if you scanned in wirh a magicband that was linked to your MDE account (which lists your DVC membership), or do you have to scan in using your digital DVC membership card via your smartphone?

My wife and I are both members (both our names on the deed), but if our teenage son is listed by name on a particular DVC resort stay, would he also have a special DVC color when scanning in, or would it be standard green?

Sorry, last question--does the special color light up for both DVC-Y and DVC-ND memberships?

Only those with their own MDE and have their own DVC account linked will light up purple. My wife is on the deed but doesn't have her own DVC login so its green for her.

I always use my MB to enter parks & generally light up purple. Don’t know about ND/Y since I haven’t been since that rolled out. Guests staying in the villa just light up green.

Scanning into a park using the Disney MagicMobile Pass on your smartphone is the same as using any MagicBand linked to your MDE profile.

I'm a lowly blue card member, and I got pink consistently in January, and the new "Welcome Home" sound effect. Well, maybe it's new? I never heard it before.

Guests in your room aren't members and won't get it.

I was just was wondering if the purple light only came on if you used your smartphone vs a magicband.
Sounds like it works with both!

I'm pretty sure my (minor) kids got the purple lights? At least as often as I did; it's not consistent.

It's been a few years though, I might be misremembering.

Both my husband and I get the purple "welcome home" when we scan in. We both have our own login and MDE account. We also got it back in November when we only had resale points, so I don't think it's tied to blue/white card members.

Does your husband have a login to both DVCMember.com and MyDisneyExperience.com? Does he use the same email address for both? Does he link your resort reservations to his MDX profile?

Your answer needs to be "yes" to all of those for it to work.

Me, my husband and daughter all get purple. We three are deed holders. No one else in the family gets the lights. We also all have our own MDE account and our own dvc account.

This. All three of us (myself and two associates) get the purple ring and "Welcome Home" at every tapstile. All three have our own MDE and our own DVC login.

I am a new white card holder and get the purple light most of the time and only remember hearing welcome home ones at the international gateway entrance at epcot. This was on my 5 day trip last week.

My wife and I are both on the deed/contract and both have our own DVC accounts and MDE accounts. Since the DVC purchase, ours have always lit up purple when entering the parks (and we usually get a “Welcome Home” from the CM at the gate). Our two daughters always get the green color because they aren’t “official” members on the contract. Also, we usually use magic bands to enter. Lastly, we are resale owners so resale/direct has no bearing on the color.
