Special, but budget friendly, party for a 16th b-day party?

I only have a small idea of NE Ohio as I live in SW Ohio. I find out about a lot of things I did not know about, or just forgot about, in local magaizines or the Ohio magazine. I also look at the Ohio visitor website. I sometimes stop by the rest area near my house that is a welcome center to find intersting things.

Also, check Groupon or Living Social for discounts for various places. I have found out about new events in my area from this sites.

Could you cope with a slumber party?

It would be my idea of hell with that amount of teenagers in the house :scared1: but money would only be spent on food and treats...

Thank you so much everyone for all the great ideas!! The cupcake party sounds like it was a great time, but not sure I'd remain sane with all those girls in my house, lol! But you've all definitely given me some awesome ideas to think about (and combine possibly). Like the idea of maybe a 1-hour mall scavenger hunt, then taking them to a movie (hopefully there'd be a good one playing). Or a sporting event is a great idea too!

do you have something like Skyzone or one of the other trampoline gyms in your area? We have one here and it's very popular. My kids love it.

In the vein of a painting party, but there are also beading parties that aren't too spendy.

A private dance aerobic class or hip hop class? I am old but a girlfriend recently did this for her 40th and it was a blast. (We went to a bar afterwards but you could have everyone to your house for cake). Or dinner at a hibachi restaurant? That's fun for a group and I remember doing it for one of my birthdays when I was a teen.
