I am booked in a cat 6 cabin for the may 2005 14 night cruise and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about any special additional entertainment or features that might happen on this cruise. The cruises have always been 7 nights max so might they introduce some new shows or entertainment ...14 nights is a long cruise......any rumors or information? This will be my third cruise on the magic so some new shows would be nice!

I've had several conversations with different DCL reps about this (we are sailing on the August 2005 repo cruise). They told me that there would probably be more than one formal night, definitely some special menus added and more entertainment. However, none of this will probably be known until end of year, beginning of 2005. They didn't even think the cruise excursions would be posted until maybe January or February!

It will be great to have the reports from the May repo cruise so we can make our plans accordingly!

I like the idea of some different menus and activities. I am hoping that they will bring back Dueling Pianos with Fidelio!! We can only wish and keep mentioning it!!!!

When I spoke with DCL, the answer was basically a "we're working on it." There seems no doubt that there will be expanded entertainment and definitely expanded menus...but they're no where near ready to discuss any specifice.

I spoke with several people at DCL about 2 weeks ago and they still didn't know what the schedule would be for the 10 night Dec cruise. They thought maybe 2 formal nights, but didn't have anything definite. I thought they would know by now, but nope.

I am hoping they have some kind of spa special...you know, book 3-4 treatments and get a 25% discount, that type of thing. Something else I would like is a class of some sort...history, maybe something on classic films, cooking, flower arranging...not that I'm worried about being bored...I can spend a lot of time reading and watching the water. My worry is eating too much and gaining 14 pounds. I could actually do that too...an extra 3500 calories a day, no problem with drinks, appetizers, and the bread from the bread basket. Maybe the class should be some type of exercise...tap dance or something else where you burn lots of calories.

Hey, BEAV! Come join us in the cruise meets section with this thread:

20050514..May 14, 2005...Official Check in Disney's 1st 14 Day thru Panama Canal

Your ideas are welcome, and maybe your thoughts will stir someone else's!! Kelli

Anything could happen, but it is likely we will have more variety shows and the formal nights on the sea days, from my past experience they are unlikely to have a formal night on the Panama day, as it takes it out of you, its hot and steamy.

You might have a Disney 'highlights' show with bits from all of the shows, old and new, basically as it comes to the usual cast.

8/20 Los Angeles, Welcome aboard variety show, casual.
8/21 At Sea, Formal, Disney Show
8/22 Cabos San Lucas, casual, variety show
8/23 At Sea, Semi formal, Who wants to be....
8/24 Acapulco, Mexican dress, Deck party going out of bay, possible local Mexico show during day.
Variety performers changed, first ones leave here, new ones join.
8/25 At Sea, formal, Castaway club, New Variety show.
8/26 Puerto Quetzal, casual, Premear at sea?
8/27 At Sea, semi formal, Disney show
8/28 Panama Canal, casual, long hot day!! Might, just might have a surprise stop, or local show. And or Variety show
8/29 At Sea, Semi formal, Who wants to be... Part 2
8/30 Curacao, casual, possible second deck party. Possible local dance show during day.
8/31 At Sea, formal, Disney show
9/1 At Sea, semi -formal Cruisers talent show / Disney highlights show of all three shows.
9/2 Castaway Cay, casual farewell variety show.
9/3 Port Canaveral

Possible two or more sets of variety performers, who will do main shows and then the secondary bars, to be swapped over say Acapulco for convenient flights.
Upgrades of Karaoke, and passengers talent shows to a main show, plus kids talent as well, (usually rushed on the last day after Castaway cay).
Possible local talent hired for a couple of late afternoon shows in Acapulco and Curacao, dance, music fire dance etc., embark on the day, will get off ship before leaving.

Thanks to all of you who gave a response. Its interesting that this being such a big time first event that they would give out some hints of special plans. Guess they figure that with the cruises pretty much booked up they are not that worried about doing anything that extra special. But keep in mind that the ship is pretty much booked at the moment, but who knows how many will cancel between now and then.....so it would be a smart idea to hold all of our interests by tipping us off about special features and events that will happen to keep us all excited about going. If not there may be lots of space then ends available 90 days prior to the cruise. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I also have a question about the special "planned" nights. Does Disney send out information ahead of time? For example, if they are planning a Mexican Fiesta, we may want to pack some appropriate clothing or if they have a pirate adventure evening then we will want to take bandanas, etc. How will we find out about the "special" events planned?

On our last cruise, in June, we would not have known about the 70's and 80's evenings if I hadn't read about them on the boards and in the trip reports. Thank Goodness we will have some input from fellow DISers doing the May repo cruise, (We are on the Aug east bound).

Does anyone know how we would find out this information?

DCL is still scratching their heads - amazed we want info NOW!!! :) I kept getting told "early 2005." Probably 75-120 days before the May repo cruise

Yeah, that's basically the response I got today when I called. They seem stupified by the calls, yet I KNOW they are getting asked these same questions over and over. HELLO????
Well, MY guess is...since they HAVE to have the excursions ready for booking 60 days before the May cruise we'll have definates by mid-March....and, given how strong the rumor mill is (just look at all we found out before the official announcement about these cruises), my guess is by end of this year/early January, we'll have some pretty good info to go on. Nice Xmas present for all of us repo cruisers. I have friends sailing on the May repo and I plan to head down to LA to welcome the Magic in and GRILL them as they get off the ship!!!!! I'll be totally in the know for my Aug repo!

by the way...what happened to the signature/countdowns...the posts are all blank.....:(

Don't know how many people are sort of crazy like me. I have been on DCL twice and had a great experience. When I found out about the 14 night cruise I got caught up in all of the excitment of it and booked to get a good cabin assignment. But my pattern seems to be that when I book ahead this many months other cruises come along that spark my interest too and many times I end up having to cancel my original cruise for something that just sounds better. I guess I am hoping DCL will start giving us little tit bits of info to hold my interest so nothing else does interest me between now and then. I love to keep excited about something like this!!! I will keep watching with wide eyes.

DerekUK.

It could look like that..but probably not..cruiseline history typically only puts 3-4 formal semi formal nights total on a 14 day cruise.

I am sure there will be plenty of fun things to do..more classes and such, and some new entertainers in the evenings.

Either way..the cruise will be a blast and we can't wait to leave in May.

It most likley will be left until they know which 'cruise director' is on these trips, give him a budget above the usual shows and hire some more acts to fill extra shows.

He/she may hire local talent, a mixture of east and west cruise entertainers, or park entertainers.

I go for the guys that start the Disney studios MGM, Beuty and the beast, they are very funny, seen them a few times over the years!

My idea was based on experience from a 7 day priness cruise and then the following year going on a 14 day Panama cruise and then considering that experience with DCL.

No one knows, but it is likley that sea days (except panama) will be more semi formal / formal , but remember, people only have a limited amount of space for clothes in their suitcases unless hiring and so formal days would not be to high.

They occassionally warn you about dress required, on the halloween cruise we were sent with the tickets an note about fancy dress that night and the dos and don'ts.

I don't care what we do... I just am ready for the cruise!

HHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY up already May, 2005!!!

I am hoping that IF Disney (and you know they will) come out with a specialty pin for the Repo Cruise that they will have one per stateroom, then offer them for sale.

Seems every cruise we have been on that has been significant for a pin, some people buy them up in bulk then the rest of us can't get one!!!!
