Kirk Herbstreit actually does a fair job of trying not to show his bias towards OSU. But you have to admit, with him being a former Buckeye QB, he'd be rooting for his alma mater.

He practically FREAKED out on ESPN after the Gators were selected to the Championship game. I used to really like him, but after that not so much. He did earn some points back because he did sort of apologize AFTER the game. But hmmm I think he's still on my list.

not everyone in and from Ohio has to like or support the team or teams from that state....my husband is from Ashtabula, OH....and he went to UF and has been a diehard Gator for longer than me....(well, that's due to our 10 year age difference, he's also been a FL resident longer than I and I am a native!)

Ok, your husband WENT to UF he's got a perfectly good reason to be a Gator fan. I just personally have a problem with people who seem to dislike the home town team just for the sake of being different....but that's my just my opinion.

He's one of those tough fans who wants the team to be perfect. I have a co-worker who's a huge fan of the Oakland Raiders, but he's really hard on them. I think Herbstreit's along those lines. He doesn't sugarcoat his criticism.

I can't recall exactly, but it was along the lines of there was no way the Gators deserved to be in the game and so on and so forth, what were the voters thinking, what was the BCS thinking, etc. He seemed VERY ANGRY about the whole thing. Turned me off in a big way.

ETA....actually my DH started liking the Gators and Raiders at age 6....not sure exactly why, some article he happened to read in the paper about a few players........so he would have been a Gator fan regardless....in fact he ran track and first went to college in North Carolina......

Herbstriet=HOT let's focus on that now!! I do love looking at him on my tv on Saturdays during football season!!

I grew up in a Buckeye family and most of my family went there or is going there now. My little sister went to Ohio University and isn't a Buckeye fan, but she's always been a little weird!! (but we still love her)

Wow! That is such a cool thing to say! I'm so proud of my Gators, too! I would have rooted for the Dawgs over OSU, I think , but can't say that I could ever root for FSU (they're not in our conference after all.....)

I agree. I would definitely root for another SEC team (but I'm really glad it was the Gators and not another SEC team ) but I don't think I could root for FSU. I like your argument that they're not in our conference.

1 - Big Can't Count Conference is GREATLY overrated, as usual. Wisconsin was the best team in the conference, and they couldn't compete with most of the top 10.

2 - Cheaters never win. Glad Troy Smith didn't get a ring. Punk can probably afford to buy one on his own.

3 - Would have been a great year for a playoff. Florida is good, but I'm not convinced they're any better than a handful of other teams with one or two losses. It's a shame we can't have a REAL champion in college football.

4 - A Buckeye ain't nuthin' but a worthless nut.
