Does anyone know why the 2000 loop (Spanish Moss Ln) is closed? We asked and heard it was for rehab & it would prob be open for July 4th wknd, but it isn’t. We usually get a site in that loop…I’ve never seen it closed before. Thanks and hope everyone is having a Happy 4th at the Fort! 🎉 🇺🇸 🎆

It sounds like all loops have been going through a brief closure during the spring/summer. It's been speculated that it's for electrical/wifi/5g. Guess it's time for 2000.

IIRC the loop closures lasted about a week? :confused3

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the WiFi or cellular connectivity? If Disney hasn't "flipped the switch" what are they waiting for? And, here's another depressing thought, in keeping with Disney's squeeze-another-dime from the customer attitude will they start charging for the new and improved WiFi (if that's even what they are closing loops for)?

Part of next year's price hike I'm sure. :sad2:

Those were possible options/what the work could be for (electrical/wifi/5g) that I've read speculations about. I have no clue what it is for but:

- I only draw 30 amps
- Don't generally use the wifi because it's overloaded (use my hotspot)
- What's marketed as 5G is not real 5G but more like 4 and a half G so I kinda doubt that's it

We might find out in time what it's for. Or not. And Stork, we may never know. Whatever.

I was 1800 loop last week. Wifi was averaging about 8 Mbps down and less than 1 Mbps up. I had decent ATT and Verizon signal the whole time. I don't subscribe to 5G on either device, so can't comment to that.

What I saw the last trip is LOTS and LOTS of power upgrades and replacing a feeder wire that was showing its age. I saw crews working on main breakers in the 400, 500, 300, plus installing a new conduit into a much larger transformer at the entrance of the 400 loop, and lots of underground drilling in the main right of way along the side of the path to and from the Settlement. WiFi in the 500 loop was strong signal, and best performance I saw was about 10am of about 2.5Meg down and .8Meg up, and latency was around 600ms (signs of congestion.)

I did see lots for microcell towers (since 2 years ago) all over. My guess though is they are ATT locked for now if they are online. Microcell towers would seriously improve signal and speeds if open to all carriers. I saw one by Pioneer hall, 400 loop, 1200 loop. Based on my signal they where not allowing Sprint or T-mobile on them if they where live.

I believe that AT&T is still the official wireless provider for Disney Parks so you would think that arrangement includes some Service Level Agreements that might also have exclusive use of those microcell towers for some period of time.

I would believe that since they are also using ATT packet radio services as well. So its possible that they are doing that, it was clearly not helping Sprint, T-Mobile or VZW which I carry a device on each network.
