Spain/France Trip Report

If you're only going to be in Granada a short time, you definitely want to have pre-booked tickets for The Alhambra. We had pre-booked tickets for the first entry session of the morning - it's all timed entry into the main palace. You can wander the gardens at your own pace. We entered en masse with our group of 8. Between the buildings and the gardens, we really must have spent about 5 hours here altogether. I think it was the highlight of most of our groups time in Granada.

It was so hard to choose just a couple of photos to post...

Next it was on to explore the gardens and other buildings.

There were also a couple of enviable concert spaces we saw along the way.

The Villa is simply gorgeous. What a lovely 2 weeks it must have been.

I'm also salivating at the look of your market lunch. All that lovely fresh fruit, breads, cheeses, and cured meat, is basically my idea of the perfect meal. Yum!

Yes, plenty of cured meat, cheese and fresh fruit to be had during our time in Spain! :thumbsup2

The Villa looks like a great place to spend a couple of weeks while exploring the area and I second Wanderlust, simple picnic food from the market - delic! If we are on the road that's our favourite way to eat finding somewhere nice to stop, rather than looking for a cafe along the way.

I certainly miss those lazy afternoons at the Villa...

Oh what a gorgeous villa! Love it!

What amazing food. I love the picnic idea too. Looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks :goodvibes

Gorgeous shots of Alhambra.
Food looks great. 10 pm for dinner??? I would starve!!! :rotfl:

Here's a food only post of some of the great things we enjoyed in Granada...

The housekeeper at the Villa was a sweet girl, Laura, from Argentina. She had little English, but my sister speaks a bit of Spanish so we were able to have small conversations with her during out stay. She was also a talented cook, and offers guests a 3 course meal that she will prepare and then leave ready to serve. We took her up on this option twice, and had some really good food!

We also managed get up from lazing around to do some cooking for ourselves :thumbsup2

We returned to the village of Lanjaron in the Sierra Nevada mountains, this time with the whole family, and we had a lovely walk up and down their shaded main street. There was a street market, and lot's of cute little shops selling local items to look at.

We chose a busy deli to have lunch at, it was really full and packed with locals. We ordered up plates of meats, cheese, salad and breads to share - it was fantastic!

We spent several pieces of time in Granada over the 2 weeks, it's such a beautiful and peaceful city. Here are some photos from many different days of our time in Granada.

We bought tickets one day on a hop-on hop-off mini tram style tour. It was small enough to get up into the windy narrow streets of the old town, and quick and zippy through the rest. It was only about 8 Euros pp for the whole day.

Love the food porn. I think I would have loved to eat your housekeeper's food. She is very talented.

Great pics from around Granada. You're making me want to go.
