I have not been in this attraction so I need some advice. I understand there is a large escalator to enter and exit the ride?? My wife has a fear of escalators, and I was wondering if there was elevator access available to avoid the escalators?
Thanks for your help.

There is no escalator or elevator to get on the ride.

The ride itself is a slow moving ride that you sit in. The first thing you do is move slowly up into Spaceship Earth, and then wind around through time. Towards the end, your ride car rotates backwards and tips back slightly and then brings you back down. It does this, mostly, because the ride down is relatively steep and in a slow moving ride with no seat restraints, there would be a small chance of trouble or at least discomfort.

I don't remember an escalator to enter the ride from last october. There was just the paved que lines that were sometimes inclined but the boarding area of the ride I doubt is one floor above the ground. Once inside the "ball" there is a moving walkway to load people on as it is a continuous boarding style ride. If she has a problem with that they can (and have) stopped it (especially for wheelchairs) so that people who can't load as fast can still ride. I know I don't have a picture of the boarding area but I'll see if I have a pic of the entrance for you.
Minnesota :sunny:

I forgot to mention that the exit is a typical disney exit, you walk down a small handicap type ramp and into an exhibit type area sponsored by ATT Communications. No escalator there either.

No escalator. Just a ramp up an incline to the ride boarding area. The boarding area is a moving walkway type area. Same thing for the end..moving walkway area to the exit, which is just a regular rampy type hallway.

another no Escalater replies.
Walk up the ramp, get on the movinf walkway
(I want one of those for grocery shopping) and then into your ride vehicle.

Enjoy

We walked by it in 2001. My wife must have mistaken the moving walkway for an escalator. Thanks for the info. She will be ok. :thumbsup2

I at first thought there was a moving sidewalk up the ramp, but now that I think about it, everyone else is right. There is no moving sidewalk or elevator.

It's nice to see that I am not the only one that has a fear of escalators. Always that it was only me. I have been on SpaceShip Earth more times than I would like to admit. It is one of my DH's favorites. Everyones post is correct about there not being an escalator. It is simply a people mover. Go on it, and have fun.....
