We were in DL earlier this year and Space Mountain had the new music and the ride was not as dark inside (which I personally prefer). This was supposed to be a temporary change. Has the ride changed back to the old pitch black ride that it formally was? We will be there again for Thanksgiving. Thanks,Marilyn

Yes, the lights are off and the Chili Peppers have been booted. Thank Goodness!

Oh well, my husband will have to go back to being a lone rider on this one. I really enjoyed going on it with the music and visibility of the track. I hate it in the dark. I know there are die-hard fans of the old way but I liked the new version. Marilyn:sad2:

I'm so bummed! I really wanted the Rockin' Space Mtn experience - my DH may have to go alone as well...

i LOVED (!!!) the rockin space mt. change. Don't get me wrong I heart space mt. but i feel like the change was good. It really felt like you were at a concert:rockband: I hope they will bring this back every once in a while.

While I liked the music as a fun change I am also one who prefers Space Mountain as a Dark ride. Maybe they will try something like this again, it was fun.

Wow, I didn't know it was temporary! I really liked it changed in February! But I'll take my Disney any way I can get it!

While 'Rockin' did get complaints from some Guests (and many compliments)...
'Rockin Both Parks' wasn't booted (removed) from either for any reason, besides it's time had come.

The 'Rockin' promotion was only supposed to run Jan - April 2007 in both parks. It did actually run a few days longer than announced as part of the YoaMD, but by the following weekend it was completely removed in both parks.

"Rockin' Both Parks' was Walt Disney Imagineerings attempt at a 'Haunted Mansion Holiday / It's a Small World Holiday'-style temporary attraction makeover.

...and I liked the 'Rockin' changes on both coasters, a bit. :)

But the 'makeovers' were nowhere close to the scope or budget of HMH or IaSWH.
....and were nowhere close to being as :cool1: either IMO!!

we liked it so much we downloaded the songs for both SM and CS when we got home. It really went with the ride although I do perfer it a little darker, but the music rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rode it in March & liked it.

I know it was a song played by the chili peppers, but it was a re-make of an older song. Anybody remember what song it was? (& i'll share the original artist)....which if i remember correctly, the peppers did EXACTLY the same.

hound - <----proud possesor of 900 albums from the 60s & 70s. :hippie:

the song is higher ground, i first heard it from stevie wonder.

I'm so glad it's back to normal! I didn't mind the music as much as I HATED the ride being all lit up. I guess it was kind of neat for one ride, just to get a better look at the insides, but other than that, I like the ride so much better in the dark. I can't wait to ride it in just 11 days!

I like Space Mountain either way. Although if it was another song from that band, I probably wouldn't feel that way.

I was at WDW the weekend before last and was indredibly disappointed in SM. What had once been the only version of the ride I knew now is incredibly lacking. No music and just enough brightness to see too much.
