Space Bags ?

This may be a really dumb question, but how do you get clothing for five people, back in that one suitcase, when you're heading back home?

I want to use them for our upcoming trip, because we're driving.

She said they make a type now that you roll them to squeeze the air out rather than vacuum. Or I guess you could just leave a little open, squeeze all (or as much as possible) of the air out then finish closing.

I used these they NEVER worked. The plastic is really cheap & rips very easily! The air always got back in!

I am suprised that they still sell them.

Perhaps it's the brand? I use Pac Mate. I got my original ones thru QVC and then ordered the rest thru their website. Of course, this was several years ago. I haven't bought any in a long time but my old ones are made of sturdy plastic and I've never had it rip on me - even with overstuffing, which I'm guilty of.

I bought them last year and 1 split and the others had the air slowly seep out.....

My Mom was just telling me she watched a show on tip and tricks......She said they were showing how you can use a garbage bag for this and not spend the money on the "real" bags. You just wad the opening around a vacuum suck out the air, twist and tape or tie? I dunno because I have never tried it, but, it might be worth a shot especially if you are not going to need them for a long period of time.

I was just going to post this as I JUST saw this show today! The guy got SIX pillows in one and to think I paid for the store bought ones! He just took a large garbage bag and put the vacuum hose inbetween the items, then he held the opening of the bag tightly closed around the vacuum hose with his hand and turned on the vacuum! The items were shrunk and tiny in no time at all. Then he put a rubber band around the top and voila! He said they lasted that way until he opened the bag. And he stores, comforters, seasonal clothes, pillows...so darn it...LOL! I just blew far more money on those fancy ones when I could've been using regular old garbage bags!
