Spa Services at AKL

Anyone done this recently? Do you have to make reservations? If so what number do you call? Were you pleased with the services? Thinking of doing this in June. Thanks!

So for a massage, the first 25 min is $55.
Add 25 min. to that and it's an extra $25.
Add another 25 min. and it's another $50?
That does not add up
Since I pay $70 for 60 min locally, sometimes discounted, $80 for 50 (with 10 for dressing to make 60, presumeably) isn't too shocking for a resort.

Of course that same 50 min. massage is $30 over those prices at the GF or SS. I can only assume that those take place in outer space on a gold table.

Since it's an outside company, I'm having an uncomfortable flashback to a Palm Springs resort, a quite nice one, where I got a 1 hour massage at noon. It seemed short, but I figured they counted dresing time. Took my time leaving, and my room was a good distance away, a long pool the size of 2 normal pools was along the way, and I went slowly trying to spot my wife and son. Despite that, it was only 12:47 when I got to our unit!! That sure knocked the relaxation out of me.

I've never been to the AKL for a massage, so I can't compare the two, but the difference seems to be that the AKL is termed a fitness center, while the GF and SSR are spas. At the GF, there is a lounge for women and one for men. Each has their own relaxation area with comfortable chairs, sofas, reading material, fruit, tea, ice water, showers with all your basic necessaties, changing area and each has their own room which contains a sauna, steam room and whirlpool. As you also get a day pass to enjoy these amenities, this is what might drive up the cost. Treatment rooms are very quiet, with candles burning and soft music playing.

Hopefully someone will post who has experienced the AKL fitness center and can give a good comparison.
