We will be spending our honeymoon at SSR in October and we're thinking about ending our trip with a relaxing spa treatment. Has anyone experienced any of the treatments at SSR? Could you please tell me your thoughts? Thanks!

I have been twice- both times I got the Mystical therapies and both times really loved it- 25 mins swedish upper body massage, 25 mins reflexology (foot massage). This last time it was so good I felt like I was having an out-of-body-experience!:cloud9: I'm going to book this for both DH & myself for our upcoming trip. I also had a pedicure this last visit- it was very nice, but they don't have a huge selection of polish if that matters to you.

My DGF, Lonnie, has had a facial and a stone massage there as well, and really loved both. On this last trip, she was able to compare the experience at SSR to the GF spa- and said SSR was much better!

There are some pics from the Spa in the DISmoms TR below in my sig- the first post.

Congratulations!

It's funny that you say that because I feel exactly the opposite. I think it really depends on who you get. I had the 25 min. facial at both GF & SSR & found the GF experience to be far superior. Last visit to SSR DH had a 25 min. swedish massage & he said it was just ok. He's had better massages at our local spa.

It's all in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!

We did the "couples massage" for our anniversary and it was wonderful (but NOT cheap!) Very pleasant and relaxing. Had a few complaints about the facilities...the hot tub and locker/dressing area are on the lower level and at the time I didn't do stairs well so that was inconvenient...but overall the experience was great and very romantic. (Have to say though, it paled in comparison to the spa facilities and the experience we had a few months later at the casino in little ol' Hinckley, MN, strangely enough!):lmao:

DH & I had massages a couple of years ago -- the massages were great, but we felt the waiting area could have been improved. The waiting area is coed and when people arrive, the attendants walk everyone through to show them the facilities -- at least that's how it was 2 years ago. We thought it took away from the relaxation... just our opinion.

DH and I had the "Soothing Foot and Leg Treatment" together. We sat side by side and a great time was had by all. Well, maybe not the poor woman who had to deal with my DH's FEET. :scared:

DH and I have had the couples massage twice now, I have had the stones massage and DH has had a swedish massage. All 3 times we really enjoyed our time, the only thing is there is no mixed area to relax in such as a jacuzzi which would of been nice, as the Mandara at Portofino has one.

I've not tried GF's spa, but I personally love hanging out pre/post treatment in the locker room at SSR. I have a great therapist at home. Now its a rarity to find anyone close to her ability at a resort facility or cruiseline. I've all but given up. OTOH, I really miss relaxing in the SSR spa facilities.

I've had massages, facials, wraps, mani/pedi's at both SSR and GF. I prefer SSR because of the facilities; the treatments are similar. However, by no means, would I consider either of these an upscale spa; they are more like the day spas around here. I think the prices are very reasonable.

As far as the SSR treatments, I do not think the mystical treatments/packages are any better than the normal run of the mill treatments I've had here. For a "signature" treatment, it's pretty disappointing (the grapefruit treatments at GF are better). I've enjoyed every facial here but I've had a couple of massages that were not the best while others have been pretty good (a great therapist makes all the difference). I hated the scrub I had, worst one ever, and it's the only treatment at SSR where I really felt I got screwed having paid for it.

And I'll be going there again on my next visit to SSR because I believe all vacations should include spa treatments. :lovestruc

In June, I had the DVC Member package - a facial, massage, pedicure and manicure. They were very nice. So nice I convinced my husband and son to get the men's facial which they also both loved. We spent a lot of cash at the spa.

Thanks everyone for your responses! Sounds like we will be doing a spa treatment on our last day ;)

I have done the hydro massage therapy 2x and I thought it was the most unique amazing service I have done. You can get facials and massages and pedis at ANY spa, but a hydro massage is not usually very common.

You will be knocked out asleep about 20mins after so be prepared.

I've been to the Spa at SSR a few times and each time has been great.

I've had sweedish massages with Meghan and she is wonderful. If I remember correctly she works Tuesdays and Fridays. Please check; you will not be disappointed.
Manicures and Pedicures are nice, but in all honesty I get the same treatment here in NYC and for less. But they are still a nice way to relax on a non-park day and professionally done. But like another poster mentioned; limited in color selection.

Have fun! :thumbsup2
