Souvenir Buying... What Are Your Automatic Must-Purchases / Plans?

I always get a Christmas ornament. Sometimes I find some cute inexpensive jewelry. I also have several of the little keychain stuffed animal characters...Donald...my favorite, and I have a Tigger one from Animal Kingdom with a safari hat on. I use them as ceiling fan pulls and attach them to the cord of my ceiling fans. I only have 3 fans so of course don't need anymore but they tempt me all the time.

I also like to work puzzles so sometimes get a Disney puzzle which is fun putting together in the cold winter. I love the kitchen stuff and have a set of salt and pepper shakers that I got on my first trip that are regular shakers with Mickey ears on them. I can't tell you how many times they have been dropped and the little ears have broken off. They have been glued back on several times. I have had several of the Mickey hand spoon rests but I break that thing every time I get a new one and never have any luck glueing it back together...it just won't stay!

This year I may get a popcorn bucket if I can find one. I have a couple of large bowls that we use for popcorn but would like to get a bucket...like the movie theater kind.

We have our first family trip planned for next summer (so, almost 20 years since my last trip as a teen). Fort kids I know we will get ears, a toy/stuffy, and a shirt. For myself I just really want a coffee mug from each park at our resort (YC). I also think we'll get an ornament.

Ugh. I would look forward to the day where I'd be satisfied with just a shirt. Good for you! But you they'll love you at Momento Mori. I will be bypassing ALL attraction souvenirs except for pressed pennies. Maybe I'll do a couple of fridge magnets or key chains.
I'd honestly love to buy more, but there's too many common alike things in the parks anymore. Not like it used to be when I was a kid and there was a wide range of different things you could buy unique to each store.

Have you purchased the photo from Memento Mori? Youngest DD had her photo taken here and it shows her/her 'ghost' self. Really fun (and creepy looking) souvenir! I learned about this picture from the DIS. It is a unique store:-)

No, I haven't. I knew about them and checked them out but felt no desire or "need" to get one at the time, there were so many other things I was too busy drooling over!

Thanks Laughing Place.

I too am looking to return once a year and I am thinking about at least a one new kitchen item each year. It doesn't have to be extravagant... but ultimately I'd like a collection of things! May start with Salt/Pepper shakers or measuring spoons, or an oven mitt.

I forgot to note that I a pair of Chop Sticks from Japan are a must as well!
Here are two of my favorite Disney kitchen items - a spoon rest and a casserole dish. The casserole is just about a 1.5 or 2 quart size. Makes the recipe for green bean casserole off the french onion can perfectly. I use it for holidays and to take for office pot lucks!

Nice. I am actually putting whose princess shoe ornaments on my "PLAN" list. The one for Tiana and one for Merida. I love those shoes.

Several years ago they used to have these collections that were incredible. They couldn't necessarily be personalized but they were different scenes/color schemes with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, & Goofy. I wish they would bring those types of collections back. One was a woodsy theme and another was just white, black, and red themed characters. We bought those up every year.

I forgot to add that I have a set of the Mickey silverware. I love them but my family laughs at the teaspoons because they are so small..like a baby spoon!

We love looking at Disney stuff in the shops, I think we check nearly every shop on property (except for the resort shops, don't make it to all of those.) We have an awful lot of Disney things in our home. We're out of space for mugs, have way too many t-shirts & sweatshirts. If DW spies a piece of jewelry she likes we'll get that. I used to buy watches but thanks to the iPhone I seldom wear watches any longer. We like the high end art, but again, we're out of wall space! Next trip we're getting the Food & Wine glasses for AP holders, and probably a Christmas ornament or two. Oh, and there will be a couple of souvenir glasses from Trader Sam's. :earsboy:

This is us, we have at some time purchased almost everything Disney. We even have original cels and an opening day Disneyland Paris ticket. We have run out of room and now only purchase what gifts our children/grandchildren may have asked for. I'm glad now that we didn't buy expensive masks from the Italy pavilion, or other country specific things because now we travel more widely and collect them from the source. I did buy a neat Mickey tote bag on our last trip, and I have used it often since, but that was only because I kept being handed "just one little thing" to carry from our kids and grands on our last family trip and I ran out of room in my purse! We too love to look, but seldom buy any more.

Salt and Pepper Shakers are on my must list now.
It's one of those things I can look forward to using year round without risk of it getting damaged (for the most part) - and may probably purchase two sets just in case one DOES get damaged in anyway. I think I will make that a yearly thing as well. I may purchase a higher end set and cheaper set. That might be what I'll do for my special high end list... if I find a "nicer" set of Salt and Pepper shaker, I just may indeed pick it up as a treat to myself for my 15 year absence.

Thanks for sharing!
LadyDiznee123, you are cracking me up! You are a kid in a candy shop running from counter to counter! We are two peas in a pod.

You should check out this post from Josh over at easywdw.com about Pop Century. (http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorized/pop-century-debuts-pretty-crazy-new-menu/) He includes some photos of the great resort merchandise they have now. Pop is my home resort (I like 60s lakeside) and I always travel solo! This time I am trying All Star Movies, but I still may have to Pop over just to get that mug! He also has a pic of the cutest Mickey & Minnie riding Dumbo salt and pepper shaker that I also may need to get.

ETA: Salt and pepper shaker is at end of post after his menu reviews.

We always get a Christmas from every park that best represents the park. It doesn't have to say the park name, just be a representation of it. For example at Animal Kingdom one year, we got a Mickey Safari hat ornament.

No other 'must haves' but we'll buy other stuff that catches our eye.

I have two trips planned. One Oct 23rd and then one in Feb for the Princess Marathon.

For October I want to pick up a park exclusive pandora charm, a christmas ornament, the zero popcorn bucket. I'm sure I'll splurge on somethings here or there but those are my top three.

For Feb I want to get a pair of running shoes and the race jacket.

Ha! I already saw that post Mickey1968! But guess what... I did didn't pay attention that those two trinkets at the end were Salt and Pepper Shakers! That's what I'm talking about! lol. I'm certain they are too inexpensive to pass up!

I am looking forward to POP... the only thing that I am unable to do is know whats a good building and section and which isn't. And I won't know until I get there. But that's okay because I am going to be happy there no matter which building the put me in!

Thanks for the Salt and Pepper Shaker heads-up. I'm definitely off to purchase them next month! :moped:

Thanks to this thread I've add that too. Didn't know they existed and it looks awesome!

Cool!
That's why I like to hear about what people are buying. A lot of whats on my list come from You Tube Disney Haul vids. (*_*)

I wish my must have lists were as small as some of you other Disney Nerds. But i'm certain to cut it for my next trip.
