I usually buy our air fare 2-3 months out. It's never been a problem, usually about $140 each way on SW.

Today I went to book for a May 6 departure and the WGA column says "more advance purchase required". Really?!? It's never been a problem before. Last time I booked almost 2 months to the date and there were still tickets available at WGA for weeks after that.

The cheapest fare going down is sitting at the absurdly high $430.

Im boggling over what the heck is going on here!!!

Try clearing your cookies. It might be reading it as 2/6/2012. I tried PIT-MCO for 5/6/12 and wanna get away was available.

I've discovered our problem.

It's the day after Kentucky Derby (we live in and fly out of Louisville).

We are absolutely hosed. Cheapest airfare round trip leaving 5/6 is $477....

What about trying Cinci? If it's a huge price difference it might be worth the drive.

Edit: Nevermind. I didn't realize SW didn't fly out of there. Closest would be Nashville or Indi.

Can you change your dates? How about fly down Saturday and get a cheap hotel. There's a 12:25 non-stop for $177 one way.

This is actually exactly what we ended up doing, except we used some points we were going to have to bank anyway since we won't make it back down in this use year again, and may only make it once in our 2013 UY as well. Thankfully my lovely wife is the cool headed one and calmed my freak-out down hahah.
