Thanks to Kevin, I have been checking my Southwest flights every day and today they actually went down! :cool1: So I re-booked at the new price and now have a $60 credit...how cool is that?! But since this has never happened to me before, I was wondering how do I retrieve or use the credit? I didn't see an explination on Southwest's site but maybe I missed it. :confused3

Also...the tickets were booked on my sister's Disney Visa, would the credit need to be used on the same card and in her name?

Unless you had different terms, we got a ticketless travel credit which I *think* is transferable. The credit should have been sent to you via email and does have an expiration date. If you aren't going to use it by the expiration date and don't have anyone you know to sell it to, why don't you eBay it? Here is an excerpt from an item currently for sale now (not mine):

You are bidding on a travel voucher for Southwest Airlines that expires on March 4, 2009. The value of this voucher is $294. Anyone can use this voucher by booking online, calling reservations or visiting a Southwest Airlines counter. When booking a flight with Southwest and it comes time for payment information, you select the option 'Apply Travel Funds'. You will then enter the voucher confirmation number and the security code - which I will provide to the winning bidder through email and/or mailing the voucher. You then will click on 'Apply Travel Voucher Funds'. The next screen will then show the credit, which you then select to apply towards your voucher cost. If your voucher is more than $294, you pay the balance with your own credit card. If your voucher is less than $294, you can save the balance for any other travel as long as it is before March 4, 2009.

This credit was a result of travel arrangements which I had to cancel, and as a result I have a credit to use for future travel. In accordance with the terms of Southwest Airlines, this credit is fully transferable to anyone. It is NOT like selling a rapid rewards ticket which is against Southwest Airline's policies.

100% feedback on EBay so bid with confidence. Thank you for looking.

*** This voucher expires on March 4th, 2009, so travel will need to be booked and completed by then.***
Note: I am not in the business of selling travel. I am only delivering the information to utilize the credit that I was unable to use and not providing any other sort of travel services; the item above is not a travel club membership or choice travel certificate.
*Per Ebay rules and regulations: *
- The seller is *not* in the business of selling travel services -- for example, a travel agent.
- The seller delivers the listed item only and provides no other travel services.
- The seller lists only one of these items per month.
- The item isn't a travel club membership or "choice" travel certificate.

I don't need to sell it, I am planning a trip for May, I was just wondering how I go about applying the credit to my next flight. I have not yet received an email from Southwest about the credit.

After you select your flight and come to the page where you enter payment information, you will see a section to apply Ticketless Funds. You will need the confirmation number the funds are refunded on and the name on the credit card originally used to book the original reservation. It will apply that to the purchase and you can then use your credit card for the rest of the purchase. Hope that helps.

now what? you email me the code along with your full name and I will take care of it for you ;) :lmao: :rotfl2:

congrats on the credit! Our flight on sunday has gone down twice. Yet another reason I LOOOOVE SWA.

I use the credit all the time. Mainly because I book the lower price first then cancel the more expensive one. Just don't loose your confirmation number as that is how you get into the site that lets you know the amount of money you can apply toward your next flight. I had several flights booked last year, one was a cancel entirely and 2 others I rebooked at a lower price. Boy we had to take an unplanned trip because the expiration date was getting too close. What a shame, an unplanned trip to Disney. But we bore up under the pressure-

Go to the Southwest web site- click on Travel Tools, then Ticketless Travel Fund Balance and fill in and it will tell you the amount and the expiration date. I believe it is a year from when you booked. (or maybe canceled)Enjoy!!:yay: :yay:

Generally, How much time do they give you to use the credit that you get? I am really hoping that they give you at least one year.

Hi,

If I purchase southwest travel credit from someone online and book using confirmation code/full name. Will they also receive confirmation of my trip? I am nervous that they could cancel and resell this trip.

Thanks!

I do not believe so. When you make a new flight reservation or change one even, its always asks you for your email address, its not populated with your email, so no I do not think they can do anything. If you look up a conf # of a past trip, it doesn't give you more than the credit info- the confirmation number, amount of credit and date it expires.

Once you use the credit, it gives you a NEW confirmation number in your name, so they can't find that at all no.

I think you are fine.

A year ago I booked when the flights came out, right away.
Then a month before our trip I got a ding for half the price!
I got the credit and the amount of credit I had paid for a whole trip back 11 months later.

As far as the time they allow to use the credit.
I forget if it was 6 months or a year........but when you come to the expiration time you can call them and they will extend it by 6 months.
They were VERY good about it all!
