I keep getting the SW cc offer.

The offer now is 2 free flights after first purchase.
There is a annual fee of 99.00, but you do get the 6000 every year.
Which is the same as $100 worth of points.

Does anyone have this card ?
And, do you know if the 2 free flights could also be used towards my husband or both flights have to be used just by me.

Don't know if this deal is Too good to be true.

I probably wouldn't use this card except for the free flights.
I have another reward card I use daily.

Thanks ! :thumbsup2

I got the card last spring before they changed the RR program over to points. The annual fee was $59 and I got two free RT flights that had to be used within the year. The same card now has a $69 annual fee and gives 25,000 points after your first purchase and 3,000 points on your anniversary.

I don't think that I would spend $99 annually for the card. Even though the anniversary points translate to about $100, that's $100 that ties you into flying on Southwest instead of being able to spend it anywhere you want. If you are using the card to rack up the points by making purchases, you probably won't need the additional 3,000 points (the difference between the $69/yr card and the $99/yr card).

The points can be used to book air travel for anyone you want to give it to. You are not restricted to using those points on yourself. And if you're short on points, you can also purchase extra points in order to make up the difference.

If you're just going to put the card in a drawer after the initial purchase, I would not bother with it.

For comparison sake, I looked up how many points a single seat on a one-way flight to MCO from PHL (my home airport) would cost. A ticket that cost $111 would be 6,600 points. So, you would not even be able to get a one-way ticket for one person flying out of ABQ (your airport) with your anniversary points. It would take 4+ years to accrue enough points to pay for 2 RT tickets and that's only assuming that airfare prices remain stagnant (not likely).

There are offers out there for $50000 points right now, I think that is the offer the OP is asking about. That is $833 worth of wanna get away fares, or $733 once you pay the annual fee.

I got the deal in the winter that offered $500 in gift cards (with $5000 purchases in first 3 months), free first year, and one free flight. The free flight transferred to 20,000 points when they changed the program. With the 20,000 points I was able to get 4 one-ways for our Aug trip to WDW, and with the gift cards I was able to purchase all but $223 of the other 6 one-ways for our family. The price went down on our 2nd leg and we all have a $40+ credit to be used by next May. If we use that credit our out of pocket goes down to under $20 for all 5 round trips. Yes it was worth it to us, and using it for purchases, and some of the special points offers we already have another 20,000+ points. Donna

Yes, I realize that there is an offer for 50,000 bonus points with sign up. It has a $99 annual fee. After the first year, you will only get 6000 bonus points on your anniversary but you will still have to pay the $99 (or more) annual fee.

I'm not sure that it is worth opening the card for just the sign up bonus if you have to continue paying such a large fee to keep it but have no intentions to use it.

My husband took advantage of the $99 SW credit card that offered 50,000 points, and so did I. We both opened up seperate accounts. The points only took 2 weeks to show up on the cards. So.. we had enough points for 5 round trip flights during Thanksgiving. Totally worth the 2 $99 fees for the cards. I am not sure that we will renew the cards once the year is up... but each card gets 6,000 points annually so it may be worth it.

This worked out to be a GREAT deal for our family!!

We got it, and were able to book 2 rt tickets from Indianapolis to Orlando and 1 one way with the points. Total for the three of us to fly rt is going to be around $250 including the first year's fee, and that is for fantastic times and direct flights. Even if we cancel the card after a year and take the credit hit, it seems like a good choice for us.

For us, we can get a round trip ticket on a good sale for just under 10,000 points, so we can get 5 round trip tickets with those 50,000. Sounds like a deal to us! We just got our 50,000 points in our account today :yay:

I got the card w/ this same deal last September. I kept hearing about how great this card was and saw that a few of my friends used it, and they were telling me how many free flights they earned. Well, now we pretty much only fly on SWA because of all of the charges by other airlines, so it seemed like a good deal. I use this card for some monthly recurring charges, and use it when I feel like it. I use a Costco American Express for most other purchases. I did earn the $500 in GCs, which I still have, because we don't get to travel all that much. My DH just used our free flight, because it was going to expire in Oct. anyway. For $59 a year it is good for us, I guess you have to decide if SWA is "your" airline and go from there. We don't fly enough to take a CC w/ any other airline.

That was my other question. My husband also got the offer. So, we will probably both get the promo. And, the four of us can fly to Orlando for 200.00!

I think that's a good deal, we could save up to 1000.00 in airfare.:goodvibes

We only fly SW, so I may renew after a year.

Thanks for the info. everyone !:thumbsup2

Can you tell me where you saw the 50,000 points offer? I have only seen the 25,000 points offer.

Thanks. It looks like the promotion ended in August. Now they are doing 25,000 points for 69 a year. I would rather have the 50,000 so maybe I'll wait a little bit and see if comes back!

Do you know how long this promotion has been extended for? Just want to make sure if I apply the 50,000 points promotion will be applied. Thanks!

We always fly southwest when going to Orlando, so for us, it's a good deal. If I went places I didn't want to use Southwest I may not think it was such a great deal but you could always get the first 2 flights, pay the $99 and cancel it

Just received the offer for 50,000 points in the mail yesterday. It is good until Oct. 15, 2011.

Thanks! Do you know if two people in the same household can sign up separately. Like if my husband also get one, can we get 100,000 points? This is an awesome deal. It's around 13,000 points for us round trip, so we can all go to Orlando from here (actually from Norfolk... 1 1/2 hours away) for 99$ plus fees. Wow. Saves us at least 500 bucks.
