I have already have my flights booked (and have for quiet awhile) for May 27 and returning June 5. My problem is I have an aunt who was planning to go with me and my two kids that has had some serious health problems arise and is no longer going to be able to go. She is listed on my reservation. I have a cousin who wants to take her place. Does anyone if it is possible just to get the name changed on the ressie? I booked Internet Special rates and now the cheapest fare listed is Special Fares if that matters. Should I just buy her a more expensive ticket and not mess with my reservation as I don't want to lose the cheaper fares for everyone? Any help would really be appreciated because I don't have a clue what's best to do!

Call Southwest and ask. I think they have issues with name changes. I think the only thing you could do is cancel and rebook the ticket in your friends name. You would get a credit for what you paid for the first one.

That's what I ended up doing when my DD decided to skip Disney in Feb. I cancelled her tickets and kept the credit, which is getting me down there next month. :)

And I think you can cancel 1 ticket without cancelling the whole reservation.

I would call SW and tell them that your aunt can no longer go, she saw a doctor (if she has) and has serious health issues that are preventing her from flying. Make sure you get that part in there first. Then say that you have someone who would like to take her place, and can you change the name on the reservation to her name, and that you understand that you will probably have to pay a penalty.

I'm pm'ing you too...

PS - please post and let us know what happens!! ;)

You won't lose the cheaper fares for everyone when you cancel Auntie, but they won't let you change the name and re-use her ticket. (You can get away with re-using domestic tickets when passengers are kids, but not adults who need to show ID.)

SWA will credit you the full price of Auntie's fare and you'll be able to use the credit toward your cousin's ticket price.
