Whats up with the prices for southwest in august? $188 for one way. Yeah bags fly for free but i think thet make up for it in the price.

When I booked my SW flights for August, a few months ago, my fares were lower than with all other airlines. They do seem to have gone down a few dollars now though. I fly JB or SW primarily. The deciding factor for me is the price and time of flight. Whichever airline gets me what I need, is the one I book with.
For instance....SW was cheaper for my dd and I to fly down on. But, JB was much cheaper to fly home with. My dh is flying home 4 days earlier than we are and he is flying SW...again, that one was cheaper than JB. It's all pretty much the luck of the draw on any particular day.

I wish I knew what was going on with SW pricing. We fly out of Bradley, so JetBlue and the others are out. Going down I got $109, happy with that, but coming back 8/15 it is $197!!! With the free abgs it ends up being the same as Delta etc. so I will wait for SW to hopefully come down.

SW prices out of Philly are ridiculous! We changed the day we fly out by one day to get a better rate ($115 one way). The hotel is free, so that wasn't an issue. We are flying back on USAirways for $105 because SW was too expensive. Thankfully we don't pay baggage fees on USAirways becuase of DH's frequent flying (he's "premier" or something like that).

ITA - out of Philly, it's crazy! There is definitely a premium for the nonstops at more decent times. It was actually cheaper for 4 of us to fly into MCO the night before and book a room-only reservation than to fly the morning we were supposed to arrive. For the same amount of money, I'd rather spend it on a room and be at Disney than have the $ disappear in the sky. We'll arrive at 7:30ish - which isn't bad at all.

We are fly out of Islip on Aug. 26th. Our price was 89.00 for non stop when I booked. Now the same flight is up to 122.00.

Coming home from Orlando, we are flying on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Our price was 134.00 the day the flights came out for non stop. Today they are still the same price. I am not crazy about the $134.00 price but can live with it. I also take into consideration that it is a holiday weekend. I check periodically to see if there is a change in the fee, but no luck yet.

But as a whole, yes, I have seen a significant jump in price over the last 3 years, this year being about the same as I paid last year. I have seen much higher prices for flights for different days though.

Hopefully, SW will come down especially for those who have been stuck with a much higher fare.

For us flying out of Islip is much better than for us to travel into JFK or LaGuardia to use another carrier.

When in AUgust?
Iam trying to book 8/22 - 8 /27 and the prices are outrageous $174 there and $164 back? Are they nuts???

Ouch! That's terrible. We are going 8/18-9/1. I also booked the day they opened the schedule for that time.

Those Islip fares a much more palatable than what they're charging out of Albany! Ours are anywhere from $139 to $189!

Are you flying out of Boston or Providence? Providence fares are crazy in my opinion! Every time there is some kind of "fare sale," PVD - MCO is never included! Since there are 5 of us flying, though and the only direct, non-stop flights to Orlando from here are through SW, we have no choice! Maybe the prices will go down over the next several months and I can get a credit toward our next trip.
