Anyone else think that the prices for Sept on SW kind of stink? I'm leaving in 7 days for Disney & the price difference for the same days of travel is over $200. Anyone think that they might drop? I haven't travel in Sept in a little over 3 years so I can't remember if this is typical for the time of year.

I originally booked our flights on SW in May last year (when the dates came out) for September for the middle of the month, 2 people from Providence for over $500. :sad2: By the time I stepped on the plane, I ended up paying $88 per person, non-stop, round trip!! I am using the credit next month. Make sure you subscribe to DING! and the email updates...totally worth it, and NO penalties for changing/cancelling flights.

And don't let the nay-sayers about gas prices get you down and panicky....they were higher last year at the same time. Good luck, and have fun!

I definitely think the prices for September will go way down. Just be patient...:)

I hope the prices come down. Last september prices from Pittsburgh to Orlando opened at $79 each way. I ended up paying only $49 each way with dings, etc.

Prices for same time this year opened at $120 each way. I sure hope the prices come down. My dh lost his job and we were hoping if he found one soon that we could squeeze a trip to Disney in the fall. At prices like this, I doubt it.

I agree with everyone else ~ the prices will come down eventually. Last year at this time I booked flights for DH and I for late August and paid around $500for the two of us. With some sales and some Ding's I got the price down to $105 each round trip. I am waiting it out this time instead of booking and taking the credit when the price drops. I currently have $275 in SW credit I need to use before December and I am 2.5 RR credits away from a free flight, so I'm not really even looking at another carrier anymore.

After checking SW yesterday from PHL to MCO, I went ahead and got our dates on AirTran for $49 each way, direct flight for the 2 of us. Maybe SW will beat that, but I doubt it. In the meantime, we've got that chore behind us.

Not only do I take my SWA Luv vouchers everywhere I go, now I'll start the mundane routine of checking airfares when I wake up, at work (err, excuse me, can I use your computer for a minute), when I get home from work (go play kids, mommy's busy), at supper(toast & cereal is a meal, now eat), before bed (at least he's used to to being ignored). Ugggh.:headache: This used to be fun, now it's getting old (like me). And also, can we talk for a minute about how far Southwest extended their schedule? Huh? This is a first time thing, no? Not to mention the fact that another poster had the exact day the schedule would be released and the release dates? As I would have said 5 years ago "What's up with that?" Anyway, I'm a loyal SWA'er. PVD to MCO is soooo convenient, and I know rates will drop to the double digits. Since Southwest has been so forthcoming lately, maybe I should just call and ask when they'll drop?

I was hopeful that the rates from Long Island to MCO would have been better....I am also sitting on a $275 credit from SW so I'm not looking at any other airlines. I decided to wait it out but now I'm starting to panic. Our schedule is not that flexible but I'm hoping to get a ding or a lower fare for our dates. I will be checking the website nonstop I guess. Anyone know when flights go on sale for the end of August? Also, if the flight says unavailable now does that mean they are totally sold out? I really wanted to get on a particular flight going down but do NOT want to pay $158 pp.......ugh.

We're needing BWI to MCO for Sept 20 and they opened up with no fares but the $205 refundable....

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Airtran has all flights open that day though at down to $89...

Might have to switch airlines for the way down...

DanenRox, like you we live in RI and love the PVD to MCO run on SW, but we'll be in WDW the same week as you in Sept. and there is NO WAY I'm going to have to worry about when the prices from PVD will go down, so we booked with JETBLUE out of Boston yesterday after the release of the SW fares and got $158 rt non stops for the times we wanted. Now I can go about my business without having to be concerned if or when the SW fares may drop.

BTW, the JETBLUE fares at $158 rt, as you know, are the same price as SW one way flights to Orlando from PVD in September.

Our July fares started at $117 one way...now I have 7 of us $39 one way and $49 return trip....I need fares for Sept but I'll wait it out....I think the reasonable fares will come..

DanenRox, like you we live in RI

Yes Disney Ron, we share our home state. I believe we also share our home girl, Ro80. I'm not sure of your exact relationship with her, but I will disclose that we were preteens together, postpartum together and are now premenopausal together. Oh dear, too much information?

You are correct DanenRox. I knew ro80's husband first and then had the pleasure of meeting the Mrs. I can't believe how much in the last year ro80 has turned into a WDW FANATIC!!!

Maybe we'll have the pleasure of meeting you in September.:woohoo:

I was thinking that the SW fares for both late August and early September stink. I need PVD-MCO August 26 with a return of September 4. Last year I recall booking in May and getting a Ding! in June and rebooking at $59 each way. Right now, the fares are like $158 each way. I think I'll wait.

I'll be waiting for a DING or Click N Save. Right now PIT to MCO is $240 through Soutwest round trip. That's double the highest amount I've paid since they've come to PIT. Last October we paid $120 (after taxes and fees), every other trip has been less than that.

I could book Air Tran right now for $140 but I don't like their flight times. They have only one non stop flight each way per day. The PIT to MCO flight would have us getting to the airport in the middle of morning rush traffic. We live nearly two hours from PIT as it is, I don't want to deal with the extra time and traffic. The return flight would have us leaving Disney 2 1/2 hours earlier than with SWA. I don't like that either.

I dislike playing the waiting game, but I'm fairly confident rates will come down, DINGs will come out, whatever.

I sure wish SW was a participating airline with DME though. It would be really nice to check our luggage at the resort instead of schlepping it all into the airport with us.

I am soooo mad at SW.. $358 round trip per person from Sacramento !!! That's $1600 for the four of us:scared1: I don't think so:sad2: I paid @218 last year

Well I foolishly bit the bullet and purchased the $158.00 each way tickets.

I did buy them as one ways (per the advice here) but, I can only hope they will come down.
:headache: $700.00 more than we wanted or expected to pay!!!.

I am holding off but I understand you biting the bullet...I almost did it last night but restrained myself LOL. I'm sure the flights will come down for you.

168 dollars one way from Buffalo to MCO for 9/16-9/23- ouch, that is tooooo much!!!

Will the better prices come out on their website or will I have to have DING to get them?? Thanks
