Southwest PHL to MCO

This is the first time I actually feel the need to book our flights for our group of 8 when the schedule opens for October. For anyone with experience with this route, can you give me an idea of what type of prices to expect when the rates are released? We are splitting the booking into 2 reservations - 4 passengers per reservation. I can't believe how nervous I am getting. Probably because 6 tickets are on another family member's budget who are on a more limited budget than my husband and me. We need to determine a price threshold where it my actually be more economical to fly AA rather than SW.

I went the 2nd week in October last year and think I paid around $250 round trip. Not sure what this year is going to show, but I will be waiting for the 18th and hope it will be that or less. I like SW more than AA. I find SW cheaper most of the time, and I always like to check in a bag.

$564.00 for the 2 of us, Oct 28 - Nov. 7. I'll be happy to duplicate that on the 18th, we got the flights we wanted.

I would book your friend's tickets first, if you want them to get the better fare! Last time I booked a flight for two separate billing reservations the cheaper flights were gone before the second set of reservations was completed. It's was like whoever finished their order first got the cheaper seats, even if you logged on first!

Not sure where you live, but we found it less expensive to fly SW from BWI to MCO rather than PHL to MCO. We are paying $183/pp round trip for our flights in May (booked opening day of the last round of fares). I think the best we could get PHL to MCO was around $250/pp round trip.
