Southwest One Way Fares from Philly $49

Greetings!

Just checking airfares for our August trip and came upon this Internet special for those traveling to and from Philadelphia.

Southwest Internet Special $49 one way to (or from) Orlando and the flights are all non-stop. Trips must be booked by April 15, 2004. (See website for other details) www.iflyswa.com

Also, needing some advice: would traveling from NYC to take advantage of this fare be worth the ride? We have never been to the Philly airport and wanted some opinions. There will be three of us traveling in early August.

I guess you'll have to see how much a two hour trip (car ?) is worth? We live in Philly and the airport is ok. Why don't you try Air Tran - they run one way deals for $49 periodically (some are on right now for August) with maybe $140 for return or vice versa.

Myself, my husband would never drive two hours just to get the cheaper flight (unless money is a real factor). Check out Air Tran, I'm sure you'll find something (maybe not as cheap, but more direct).

We have been checking JetBlue, Delta Song and all the other major carriers in the area but we are returning on a Sunday and all of the fares are so much higher for weekend days and/or nights. I will check AirTran and see what I come up with.

Is it possible for you to stay at an airport hotel on Sun evening (they're usually not that much) and return the earliest available flight on Monday? You'd probably save money that way too.

You live in Queens, you can get to LGA and JFK for next to nothing. I'd think parking, tolls, and gas would run over $100. Not really sure you'd save enough $$$ to be worth it.
