Southwest, group travel, resort checkin-in???

Has anybody flown SW through group travel? I called yesterday to book 10 and was told I could only get paper tickets when booking through groups and I have to check in at the airport.

So I'm guessing I can't use the resort check-in.

We did a vacation package through Southwest last summer to Vegas and we did have to check in at the airport. For our outbound flight we went to the airport a day early and got our boarding passes. For the return we didn't and still got to sit together (2 of us).

It would seem like you could still use the ME bus. All you need for that is to add it to you reservation #. But I don't think you could use the resort check in or luggage service. Was the price a lot better?

No the price was actually the same. The SW agent did say it was a special rate, but it was the same rate I saw online. And I forgot to ask about boarding because without online check-in we may not be seated together and I'm traveling with five kids under 7.

The one benefit of booking through groups is delayed payment. My reservation is on hold for 30 days, I need to make a 10 percent deposit by August 22 with the balance due July 14th.

That is a hard choice to make. With so many little ones I think I would want to be sure of my seats together. Not having to pay it all right now is nice too. With resort check in you would be able to send the luggage on and not have to carry it with you on the ME. So I guess there is good about both.

I'm also waiting the for the school schedule for my nieces who are going with me to help with the little ones. I told my sister she has until April 15 to confirm if they can go, if they can't then I won't have a group anyway.

Hopefully, the rates won't be higher by then.
