If I buy my tickets and the fare drops in price, I know I can get a credit that's good for 1 year - my question is, what date is tha t1 year from? The day I booked originally, or the day the fare drops?

Scenario time: Flights for December should be coming out on May 19th. We're also going on a cruise in May 2015, and would need to fly in May 24, 2015. If I buy my tickets on May 19th, 2014 and the price drops a month or 2 later, would I be able to use that credit on my flight May 24, 2015? (I'm wanting to buy them the first day because in my past 2 trips, the first day was the cheapest the flight got before it was full, and we have a specific flight time that we want, but just in case...).

They expire one year from date of original purchase. If you purchase on May 19, 2014 you would not be able to use a credit for a flight after May 19, 2015. If i remember correctly you can purchase a onetime extension.

This happened to me. The flight price dropped by around $90. I did not realize until later that the credit had an expiration on it. I called an asked about it and was told that you can pay an extra $100 to extend it but since mine was below $100 it was a mute point.

Boo! That's what I was figured. I guess I'll have to roll the dice and hope for the best - if the price on 5/19 is really great, then I'll go for it. I don't want to move our cruise because it's in celebration of our anniversary.
