Southwest date release cycle?

How often does Southwest open up new dates? Every 4 months?? My travel dates are at the end of January so I won't be included in the next group. I receive my 6,000 bonus in August and would love to use it for my next ticket purchase. TIA

"On June 2, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through January 4, 2017. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently. Currently we are accepting air reservations through Nov 04, 2016."

Jumping on. I've got our Oct 2016 trip flights, We'll be going around the same time in 2017 and we have a credit from a recent price reduction. I'm concerned that our Oct 2017 flight won't be released in time for us to use the credit. Is there anything else we can spend that on if the dates are released too late?

Travel Funds from repricing flights that you originally booked on Feb 18, 2016 expire on Feb 18, 2017 (or possibly on Feb 17, 2017). They are not valid for travel that occurs after that date. Unfortunately you cannot use them for anything besides airfare.

I don't remember exact dates, but I know that spring flights came out in October (through about June 3), then in early December the summer flights came out. Then in February the newest fall ones were published. Which seems like a pattern, except that now there is a lull until June, when the late fall/early winter will post!
