Southwest Credit for Price Drop Question

I feel like I should know the answer, but I've never been in this situation before. I purchased a SW ticket on my credit card for my mom to meet me for a Mom/Daughter weekend. The airfare for her ticket went down significantly. Is the credit only usable by HER within the next year? Is there anyway to transfer the credit back to me?

If the credit is only for her, does it act like RR points that can be used for car rentals, etc. or only for the price of a new flight within a year of the original purchase date?

TIA!

I know a while back that anybody could use the credit to purchase air fare. Sadly, SW changed that. I would really, really love for them to allow anybody to use the credit. We purchased air tickets for family for this June, and now one person wants to back out. Since my husband and myself will be booking airfare for a Nov trip, I would be so happy if we could use credit from that family member's canceled ticket.

I believe if you let the credit expire, you can call and have it extended for $100 and then it can be used by anyone.

They changed it because people were selling their credits on e-bay. This put them in line with most other airlines.

Thanks all...that's what I was afraid of....kinda makes me wish I hadn't even looked to catch the price drop, KWIM? :lmao:
