Just got the email that the 50,000 mile offer is back, I'm happy since I missed out last time. Just wanted to share incase anyone else has been waiting.

Darn! My husband just got his new card in the mail on Saturday with only the 25,000 bonus point offer. Has anyone ever had luck getting the rewards changed to the 50,000 offer since he JUST got it?

Yes, just send a secure message to Chase through their website. Log in to your online account to send the message. As long as the current offer is the same card type that your husband got, you should be able to ask them to match the current offer's bonus. No guarantees, but you should definitely try!

Is the offer available on line someplace? When I went to the chase website, it shows only 25K

When I click on the link it brings me to my application with all my info pre filled. It states I need to apply before 5/25 to get the 50,000 miles. Not sure why it isn't showing up for everyone :(

I never got this email. Did it come from SWA? Maybe because I already have their card. I would get another for dh just for the points.

It was from Southwest, rapid rewards. Maybe you can call and say someone you know got the offer, can you? It can't hurt.

I didn't get the email either. I do see the 25K miles offered on Chase.com.

How much is the yearly fee for this CC?

Thank you,

Dawn

I think I need to go back and read that other SW thread, but it seemed like people got more than 2 flights out of the 50K points.

When I go to the SW site, it appears a $300 ticket (which is about what I will be looking at to get to the West Coast from the East) would be 18K miles......so 50K miles will equal 2 tickets with just a little left over. Is this correct?

I think the fee varies depending on what type of card you have, but my fee is $69 a year, with a 3,000 pt bonus on my "anniversary".

DH has the same card, but has never paid a yearly fee. We haven't figured out why. lol

I got the email too, addressed to my husband at my email address. He recently got a Chase Sapphire card, so I might wait before applying for this one again.

We applied for the card yesterday, if we only get 25000 I will definitely call and say "I know someone" who got offered 50000!

Dawn when you go to the southwest site you can look up you flight in terms of points instead of $'s and it will tell you how many points your flights need.:)

The "exchange rate" for points to dollars is 60 points = $1.

However it's effectively a little bit better than that because the cash price quoted now includes all government taxes and fees. When you purchase with points, you must pay cash for the 9/11 portion of that but you avoid the rest.

There may be some variations depending on the route traveled but for PHL->MCO the government taxes and fees seems to be a constant $11.90. If you pay with points (for this route) you do pay $2.50 cash for 9/11 fee but you "save" $9.40 in the balance of those fees.

Anyway, at the 60 point/$ rate, the 50,000 points is "worth" $833.33 in fares plus the value of the taxes avoided by paying with points.

So as an example, my non-stop PHL->MCO->PHL flights were 6180 points each way. You could have gotten 4 round trips for 49,440 points and $20 cash (for the 9/11 fees.) If purchase with cash, they would have cost $911.20. So those points were really worth $891.20.

Not bad for the initial annual fee of $69!

(Note: This is all based on a small sample of a single route and Wanna Get Away fares. The redemption rate for Anytime tickets is 100 points per fare $ and for Business Select it is 120 points per fare $. I do not understand the reason for the points premium for Anytime tickets. When booking with points, refundability isn't an issue and I just don't see the advantage "free" same day changes vs. "applicable fare difference applies.")

My DH gets 3000 pts on the anniversary of his card for his $59 annual fee. I believe when that card came out, there was a also no annual fee card that didn't give the 3000 pt bonus - is it possible that's the one your DH has?

I think this email is targeted to certain people, I also got the same email & it was right after I'd gotten the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

The annual fee is $99 for this SW Rapid Rewards Premier card, but you get 6000 pts on your anniversary (worth $100) so it's a wash on that.

Others who only see the 25K offer can do what a PP suggested and call or Secure Message Chase and see if they will match this offer. Doesn't hurt to try.

I've told DH to cancel his SW Visa since we never use it anymore. On to other offers.

I got the email as well, and not anyone else in my family (Dh included). We just flew SW this past Tuesday. I wish the offer came to my DH (since he is the money maker of the house). Not sure I will get approved with my more minimal salary, but applied anyways! I was holding out for the 50K points offer (since I do not need the points right now anyways).

It's a possibility he has the no yearly fee card.

We were just talking about this a couple days ago, so it was fresh in my mind when this thread came up.

I got an email from Southwest also. Apply till May 25th.

It states spend $2000 in first 3 months get 2 tickets ( $800 in wanna get away fares) It says nowhere how many points... or at least I don't see it.

$99. fee

Is this the 50,000 point offer?

Is this the 50,000 point offer?

Yes.

My email reads (copied and pasted):
Get 50,000 bonus points after you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months of opening your account. That's over $800 in Wanna Get Away?® Fares - enough for the 2 Roundtrip Flights

I got the email, too. I thought it was odd since I just got that same card 2 months ago. I have enough points with what I've earned in the 2 months and the 50,000 to take my whole family of 5 to Disneyland in Dec. (it's only a 1 1/2 hr flight). Yay!

I was thinking of having dh sign up for it but I think I deleted the email.
