Does anyone know if the redcard discount applies to the Southwest gift cards? Last year for our trip our Target did not carry them so I got them at a grocery that offered fuel point, but the redcard combined with the RX reward discount would be a much better deal.

Yes, you get the 5% off on all entertainment cards, including Southwest. I buy the Southwest cards to pay for all the flying fees since we use points to pay for our Southwest flights. :thumbsup2

:cool1: Thanks so much. I had a feeling that it would work, but I would hate to grab some and get to the register and it not.

Make sure to read SWA's policy regarding separate forms of payment on reservations BEFORE you purchase a bunch of gift cards. I believe you can only use up to 4 forms of payment for each reservation. Each GC is a separate "form of payment" so that trips people up sometimes. It's not a huge deal if you are already planning to have each person on your trip have their own reservation (I do separate reservations for me, DH, and DD because one or the other of us invariably has to change plans), but if you want one reservation for your entire family, how you can pay for the air might make a difference to you. I believe Target only sells $50 GCs.

Thanks for the info. We learned this last year when I used gift cards to pay for our trip. I had a fear of something like this happening so I called SW before I went to the store. We got a great deal on our tickets so I was able to book us all ( fam of 5) going and then had to book us all coming separately, but we got it worked out.
If push comes to shove in the future I will book us all separately.
