If there is a booking on Southwest and need to cancel. I know that they give you a travel credit that needs to be used within a year of original booking date. Does the re booking travel date have to done within the year or just the new re booking date?

Travel must be completed within a year of the original booking date. They will allow a one-time, six-month extension for a charge of $50 per credit. You can only get an extension after the expiration date, however.

Also important to note is that credits only can be used by the passenger named on the original ticket.
