Southwest and ME

Sorry, but the search function won't work for me this morning. I vaguely recall at one point that there was talk about Southwest possibly becoming a participating airline. Is this true or am I making it up? My head's so cloudy these days, I can't figure out what's true and what I've fabricated! Would someone set me straight?

They are not currently participating. Who knows if they will. Rumors say they will, but SW has not been big on things that cost them money (which could be why they make a profit!)

NOTE: This only effects your ability to check luggage in at your hotel. You can still have Disney transport your luggage from MCO to your hotel and you can take the bus back to the airport you just have to haul your luggage to the bus area.

It's SW. A number of posters said both SW and Disney employees said SW is in the process of coming on board. SW recently started to allow remote check in at Vegas so the systems issues have been solved. I'm sure money is an issue.

I plan to ask at the RAC a day before my flight (in October). I wouldn't be surprised if some DIS get to use it before it's officially announced.

I'm flying SW in a few weeks. I am going to ask if the SW agreement with ME has started when I am there. It would be nice to check my luggage at Pop Century when it's time to fly home.

If anyone has any updated information about SW and ME, please post.

We are flying SW from Texas and we have reservations on the ME. I recieved our luggage tags 2 day ago. We are going Sept 21-28. Hope this helps.

We are flying SW too, and got luggage tags, but what SW does not do that others are is checking baggage at the resort, you still have to check it at the airport once you get off ME, on your way home. Some airlines take it directly from the ME people.

I just got back from DW and we flew SW and used ME. They will not check your luggage for you at the hotel, but you can go to Guest Services and they will print out your boarding passes 24 hrs in advance. We did this so all we had to do once we got back to the airport was just go to a skycap and have them check our luggage in. Took very little time at all!
