Southwest Airlines

bumping this one. i'm flying southwest i have mme but i don't think southwest is part of it. so i'm just gonna go get my bags at baggage claim and bring them to the bus. less chance of them getting lost i think.

For all arrivals into MCO Me is used and the tagged bags will be picked up.We only fly SW and have used ME many times.

The participating airlines you here of is just for the return home.If your airline is one of those you can check you bags and get your boarding passes at bell services at your resort.

If not ( SW ) then you just take your luggage onto the bus with you anf check them at the airport.

You van get the front desk to check you in and print your boarding passes at the 24 hour mark.

This is what I have been told by DME, as I am flying Southwest to/from Orlando for my upcoming trip to WDW:

"Guests who are registered at a Disney owned resort can use DME & DME's luggage transfer on all incoming flights to Orlando Airport. You should receive DME tags & vouchers prior to your departure date. If you booked everything separate (room, tickets, flight, etc.), you need to contact DME at least 30 days prior to your departure date to Orlando. They will ask you for your resort confirmation number, the Disney resort you are staying at, as well as both your arrival and departure flight information. You should get an envelope in the mail from DME about 10 days after that. In it, you will find a booklet that has your luggage tags (this will have your name and your Disney resort), as well as your arrival voucher. You will see pages that have your arrival & departure airline information on it. You will not see a return voucher, as you need to call DME the day before you depart for your bus time and confirmation number.

The "participating" airlines is in reference to the return. The traveler's on these airlines can check their bags at the resort and the resort will transfer them directly to the airport. What passengers using non-participating airlines need to do is bring their luggage to the designated departure bus, the driver will stow these bags under the bus to go to the airport, then you need to claim your bags from the bus when you arrive at the airport and check them at your designated airline."

DH & I flew SWA on our recent trip - just back about 2 weeks now.

ME worked beautifully! Put the yellow tags on our bag before leaving Austin and did not see them again until they arrived in our room while we were out to dinner that night.

Took the bags with us on the bus (driver placed them in the hold under the bus). We tipped him when we got our bags from him, waited in line at MCO to ck the bags. The line was tremendously long at the SWA counter but it moved like crazy. Very well organized.

I highly recommend you have the front desk/concierge print off your boarding passes the day before your departure. We were in group A and it was wonderful. :cloud9:

Thanks for letting us know about checking in with SWA at the hotel 24 hours in advance , didn't know that.

Do you use the front desk or the Concierge desk to do this ?

Thank you :sunny:

Concierge if that resort (as most do) has it.

Just make certain you have your airline confirmation # with you when you go to the concierge. Silly me - I just didn't realize it and needed to go back to my room to get my printout. DH got a 10 minute headstart on the day's afternoon nap.

Disney's Magical Express - What "Participating Airline" Really Means!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so there still seems to be some confusion about the term, "Participating Airline" so I figured I'd help explain this.

"PARTICIPATING AIRLINE" ONLY REFERS TO THE RESORT AIRLINE CHECK IN DESK.

IT DOES NOT REFER TO GROUND TRANSPORTATION TO/FROM THE AIRPORT, OR INBOUND LUGGAGE TRANSFERS.

Inbound to Walt Disney World:

Anyone who flies into Orlando International Airport with a Disney resort reservation can take advantage of Disney's Magical Express ground transfers, along with luggage transfers, provided you have specifically made DME reservations prior to arriving at Orlando International Airport.
You do NOT need to use the luggage tags to take advantage of the ground transportation. You are more than welcome to claim your luggage at baggage claim and bring it on the bus with you.
You can still take advantage of luggage transfers without using the yellow tags. Just proceed directly to Welcome Center and give them your claim tickets. (Be advised, luggage transfers will take slightly more time than usual)
You DO need to use the ground transportation to get your luggage transferred.
You MUST have reservations prior to arriving at OIA.
Outbound to Orlando International Airport:
Anyone who flies out of Orlando International Airport with a Disney resort reservation can take advantage of Disney's Magical Express ground transportation.
Only those flying participating airlines may check thier luggage & get boarding passes at the Resort Airline Check-in Desk. EVERYONE must be present (exceptions: Adults over 18 can check in for spouse & kids). Bags may be checked 12 to 3 hours prior to flight departure time. Desk is open from 5am-1pm, daily.
Those who are not flying a Participating Airline may still recieve thier boarding passes at thier Lobby Concierge desk, so long as the airline has internet check in.
Non-participating and international airline guests will have to bring thier bags onto the motorcoach, and check it at the airport itself.
Current Resort Airline Check-In Participating Airlines (Domestic only): American, Continental, Delta/Song, jetBlue, United/Ted, Northwest and Alaska Airlines.

Despite rumors floating around the internet, these are the ONLY participating airlines for the Disney Resort Airline Check-In Desk. This page will be updated as soon as others get added. But until you see it on this page, they are NOT participating for the RAC desk.
