Southwest Airlines will start charging baggage fees for check-in baggae

They were well known for complimentary check-in baggage for the first two pieces, but no longer without status. They might have been the longest holdout, but a big institutional investor wanted changes to boost profits.

It's been nearly 15 years since we flew Southwest. It was a very popular economy airline that offered decent service back in the day. It was amazing how many people we knew who routinely flew SW if it was a viable option. Now I haven't heard of anybody I know flying with them in at least five years, actually probably more if I stop and realize that we're already five years out from pandemic shutdowns.

I don't expect this will help keep customers booking flights anymore than the proposed changes I just heard are on the horizon for a couple of the economy resorts on the Las Vegas strip who are expected to discontinue valet and bell services while continuing to charge resort fees.
