Hi All!

Maybe I am the only one who didn't know this...(hanging my head) ....but in case you didn't know, maybe you'd like to before you book tickets on SW or Delta.

We just booked tickets on the SW "$59 internet special." Well, after they add all of the tax and other charges, those "$59" tickets are really $77.90.

HOWEVER - we also just booked some return home tickets on Delta and they are listed as $73.40. Delta includes all the taxes and other charges so they truly are $73.40.

So my $73.40 tickets from Delta are less expensive than my $59 tickets from SW.

I hope that helps someone. :confused3

Well, I've always been pleased with Southwest's service and prices - but I agree that the way they advertise them is hard to follow since they diverge from the rest of the airlines by only advertising the one way price. Those taxes and fees didn't always add up so quickly, but this is a good reminder - thanks!

Late last night I booked a delta flight from Columbus, Ohio to Orlando, for $136 roundtrip. Total was $272 for the 2 of us and its a direct flight!

Monday when I loooked at that exact same flight it was over $230 pp for the same flight.

Not all the flights seem to be that cheap, but if your more flexible it may work out for you.
We are flying sunday to sunday, but that was when we could get a good rate at the dolphin too! This is late may, early june travel.

The only disappointment was we had a $100 credit with expedia, but weren't able to book with them. They said that the return flight's price was being adjusted or something. I got the error on the site, and when I called in.
I figured I'd might as well purchase directly thru delta late last night instead of waking up thismorning and seeing the price jump.

I usually do a "pretend" reservation - Delta and Independence Air both let you do it on their website. Then you get to see all the fees, etc., and get the exact price the tickets will cost.

I have never flown on Southwest - but Delta seems to have little bit more to offer (food service, video screens, etc.).

Good luck!
