Southern California Grayline Tours

We will be making our first trip west of the Mississippi the first week of May. my question is has anyone done any of the tours departing Anaheim that Grayline offers. We are wanting to do the LA/Hollywood experience tour. Any thoughts or tips on this or any of the other tours they offer. $63 for the tour does not seem bad at all. I'm just wondering if it is worth the money or not.

We used Grayline for our Knotts and Seaworld tours last April and were quite pleased with the service. They pick you up at your hotel and take you back to the depot where everyone gets their tickets and boards their respective bus.

I thought the tour costs were quite reasonable as they included tickets to the parks we were attending (so basically the transportation was free).

We had the most fantastic driver on the Seaworld tour - Charles was a hoot!

Our Grayline tour left way before park closing and there summer fireworks.. We needed to be at the bus at 6 or 7 pm and were back in anaheim around 9pm.
It was about an 11 hour tour and about 7 hours was park time.

The cost was great: bus and admission bundled and we used a AAA 10% discount. Park time was limited and we did not see all the shows we wanted to.

BUT the convenience of not driving/ renting was great!!!

I have used Gray Line Tours for the Universal / LA tour experience, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, as well as San Diego Zoo, and have had a great experience with all of them. Like Lozzypop said, they pick you up at your hotel, take you to the bus depot where you get your tickets, or redeem your vouchers for your tickets, and board your assigned bus, which takes you to the park or on your excursion and brings you back after the park closes or the excursion is over.

We have never had to leave the park early for any reason what so ever. Even on the day that we went to San Diego Zoo, we had other tourists that we had to drop off at Sea World first, and we all got to spend full days in each park. We were picked up first at SDZ at park closing, and headed on over to Sea World which was also closing and picked up the group there who got in full days.

I think the worst that has ever happened was missing about 15 minutes of park opening due to traffic, but we were still able to pack in everything we wanted and felt like we didnt miss anything.

Then at the end of the excursion, you don't have to make a stop back at the bus depot in Anaheim. The tour bus takes you directly back to your hotel. So it's wonderful you dont have to drive, and can take the HOV lane the entire way there by passing the majority of traffic. Especially when heading into LA.

We used SGL when last November for a trip to Universal. It was our first time to California and loved the convience of not having to worry about driving, and after seeing the amount of traffic in LA I am sure glad we chose a tour!! We found SGL to be a wonderful service and would use them again. They picked us up on time at our hotel, took us to the depot to get our tickets. Make sure you get off the bus and go straight to the line in the depot to get your tickets, this line gets very long with the more buses that come to the depot. Once we boarded our bus for LA the bus driver gave us the info we needed and was a wonderful tour guide. At the end of the day the bus brought us back directly to our hotel, although the trip back was a little longer due to traffic, it was a great experience. We are using this service again for our Sea World trip in July.
